because the humax is looking for a TV CHANNEL that does not exist anymore , point your humax to www.bbc.co.uk/three , or buy a device on that list that will point to a INTERNET STREAM

At which point it will only be available to the 30% of the population that own an iPad or iPhone, then in 5 years time they'll bodge something together for Android, followed later by putting something workable together for set top boxes.

Gotta love those Apple fan boys over at the BBC, just like with TopGear they'd rather shoot themselves in the foot than actually do something the license payer wants to see.
As PG says it's Web based so most of their target market can be reached.
You can use any Web connected device regardless of manufacturer or OS. It's already available on set top boxes and smart TV's etc.

No it is not, the humax has always used channel 901 as a place holder to load the iplayer "app" , that goes to the bbc portal and it is them that have left off BBC3, but the channel 3 on demand stuff can be accessed using the search facility as I stated earlier , and probably once the BBC get their heads from their nether regions they may fix this shambles, but hey you know them as well as I do, don't hold your breath.

  • I have emailed Tony Hall at the BBC about this problem. No reply yet.

... like a HUMAX Freesat box, for instance, which (depending which one it is, I guess) will do exactly that.

On my Humax you press the button for TV Portal choose the iPlayer app and then select channel II! then select the programme you want.
But I guess that it must be a Freesat problem if it was accessed via a channel, not a Humax one..
Channel II! is now on demand only. It doesn't play any linear programmes, that would be pointless on-line...

Bad guess pirate, the "iplayer app" on a foxsat is just an entry to check the BBC portal via the web, they then push out what they want displayed. the regular iplayer page(as we know it via windows and android etc) still has Three (or II!) as a "channel" it appears that they have forgotten about freesat...pure speculation of course:beer:
But as I said in post 11 you can still watch it if you know what to search for, i didn't know what to search for but I found cuckoo on the regular iplayer and then watched it on my Humax via channel 901 , start iplayer and then searched cuckoo. The BBC need to just re-insert II! (Three) into their xml or however they distribute it. The "app" on freesat never allowed you to watch "live" broadcasts why would they since they are already available on the satellite feed, the iplayer on freesat was only intended to allow catch-up, and it is probably the same on freeview boxes too.

It is still being streamed ...sorry, it is no longer broadcast though.
Only individual programmes can be streamed or downloaded , not the Channel. Even the programmes in the future deemed "BBC Three" will get a showing on BBC 1 or BBC 2.
Basically BBC Three is no longer...
