    Why not memorise it?
That's something your brain is used for.

    Or write it down somewhere.

If it bothers you that much switch to a bank that puts it on a card............(now eagerly awaiting for the thread "Which banks have account numbers on their cards?" to be posted..........

I'm not upset or bothered about it. It was merely an observation and i wondered how other Natwest customers accessed their account numbers.

    Jeez.

Reading this i has made me realise that i have never looked at any of my bank cards to get the account number or sort code. I always log into online banking to get the account number and sort code. But on my main account i remember it because i have used it many times.

But i actually find using online banking more convenient because i am more likely to have my phone with me than the required bank card.

I wrote my account number on the activation sticker that's still on the card. I don't use the card out anywhere, just pay a few bills from the account for the obvious reasons and have too many accounts to remember all the numbers. I mainly use the account online, so it's handy to have the number. I know it isn't hard to write it down somewhere, but it is more useful having it on the card.
  • Surprised at some of the attitude given in replies to the OP here.

I've also just switched to nat west and found it rather annoying that my account number is not shown. Sure there's bigger things in life to fret about but there doesn't appear to be any genuine reason why it is not shown. Every other bank card I've ever had has included the account number so leaving it off is not the norm by any means.

Thankfully, I only have one account with nat west... I feel for people that have more than one (and therefore more than one card) as it must Increase the chances of using the wrong card by accident!!

I agree with your sentiments here. I used to have two accounts with RBS, one my salary went into and paid my direct debits etc. and one for my 'spending' money. There was absolutely no way of telling which card belonged to which account. If it had the account number on the card this would not have been a problem. Sort codes are on the cards.
  • Now I'm reminiscing about my old HSBC Solo card that took the form "6759 Sort Code Account Number" as the whole card number - which meant it ended up being 18 digits rather than 16, and confusing online shopping sites.

Customers with more than one account can have a narrative on their card so they can distinguish the difference between accounts.

Interesting... so maybe you could set your narrative to be a set of 8 digits... like the account number, perhaps!!
