No account number on NatWest card!

That was a surprise when I got my NatWest card! Not sure yet how I plan to get my account number when I need it to give people. What do people do? I was thinking of going into the mobile app to get the account number if needed.

Natwest debit cards haven't had the account number on for years.

Either go online to your account or wait for a paper statement to come through the door.

How did you open the account? If it was in branch I'm certain you would have been given or sent paperwork with your account number on, if online then you will have either seen it during account opening or have received an email with it in.

I've memorised my primary RBS account number now but going into mobile app is what I do for the other, rarely used, account I have with them. And the accounts I have with other banks but don't carry card for. I also have the details in 1Password.

It was opened online. I've got my account number, it came in the post, but getting it on demand was what I wondered other people did.

Write it on a bit of paper & put it in your purse/wallet. Technological equivalents are available.

Write it on the card with a permanent marker.
  • RBS group which obviously includes Natwest seem to be the only bank(s) to not print the account number on their cards.

I know it's for security purposes, but other banks haven't adopted it. Pointless?

I work in a phone shop of one of the major uk networks and when setting up an account I often am handed a Natwest or RBS debit card to set up the direct debit and have to ask the customer for their account number. They also seem unaware often that their a/n is not printed on the card!

I'd say so. What kind of fraud is avoided by withholding the account number? If somebody knows your acc/no and sort code, they can do precisely one thing: deposit money in your account. Somebody could do a lot more damage by using the 16-digit number and 3-digit security code, and these *are* displayed on Natwest cards. I just don't understand the logic.
