How do I terminate my SIM only account please.

I have a SIM only monthly contract with EE, for which I get 500 mins, 500 texts and 100mb with an £8 cost per month. Due to the fact the data is low, I don't even consider using it as I would be afraid I'd go over and receive a hefty charge. The allowance for minutes are rarely used and texts never.

I bought a smart phone but it is back in the box, due to the fact I daren't use data. I'm now thinking that with better options and cheaper, ie http://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/sim_only_deal/0d5d547682db0a32d14a0c8b0d8e2a7619dd85af?page=%2Fmobiles%2Fcompare%2Fsim_only_deals%2F&position=4&sorted_by=bestseller

Would someone explain to me what I need to do to terminate with my current sim provider and what information if any I need. Don't want to upset EE as I am with them for home phone and broadband on a separate account.

If your minimum term's up just call them and ask for either a pac to move your number to another network or to cancel your contract. You'll need to give 30 days notice and then you're done.
  • The "or" being the operative word; if you ask for a PAC code there will be no cancellation unless you exercise it within 30 days. Easier to just give 30 days' notice instead.

You probably think I'm thick, but I need to think out loud over this. Having googled I am of the opinion that I should :-

Contact EE and ask for my pac code which will comprise of 3 letters & 6 numbers. This code will last 30 days only. Then contact Life Mobile as I would like this:- https://lifemobile.co.uk/Basket/SimChoice/89?awc=6535_1455297550_cf8f82d7197b3de6e1fb2162c460b793

At this stage I am stumped (that's if I haven't gone wrong already), will they then ask for pac code before they send the sim? or what?.

The aim is to have my little used smart phone charged up and put the sim in it and hopefully it will work.

Either before or after. Generally, you can port the number to the new SIM at any time within 30 days, but most (all?) providers can take the PAC when you order a SIM.

Generally, for this only you don't need to port the old number if you are happy to use the phone with a new one.

Thanks, so I will ask EE for my pac number and tell them I wish to terminate with them.

Assuming that goes as such, will note the pac number and contact Life Mobile and request the micro sim and state the deal I would like, give the pac, organise the dd then presumably they will then despatch the sim ready to use.

Porting Authorisation Code number doesn't sound much better than Porting Authorisation Code code.

    You ask for PAC.

    I.e., "or", not "and"

Presumably. Alternatively you can give them the PAC after receiving the SIM.
And beware, EE will charge you for the next 30 days even if you port the number out earlier. It's worth making use of what is paid for and don't rush with porting.
If/when the number is ported out within 30 days, the old contract gets terminated.

I phoned Voda who offered to try and give me a good deal, they didnt so gave me my PAC, went onto the Life website and ordered the sim paying my £6 (uswitch deal £6 for 1500min, unl txt and 1GB data).
That arrived Tuesday. I didnt try it for a day or so and it went live thursday night.

I just need to phone them and provide my PAC to transfer my number over.

Its all very easy and no hassles (so far), except Voda said i should receive my code by text also and none arrived? And providing the code works...

all very encouraging and for an old firt like me, even I should be able to do it. thanks again folk.

But I will add forgotmyname, that is the deal I was after, but in the Life mobile website, that came up at £7.95, even though it said £6 elsewhere. So how do you ensure you get it at the uswitch deal as I have not come across that before. I'm sure I've heard of it though.

WHOOPS! Think we may have a problem. Just looked at my smart phone/box and seen it is 4g here:-

    http://ee.co.uk/our-company/newsroom/2015/07/07/EE-launches-the-UKs-lowest-priced-4G-smartphone-the-Rook

Does this mean all we've done so far has been a waste of time?
