    Thanks for that Vivatifosi. :A

You are right. When injuries are life changing, they affect so many more people than the injured person.
And while they might eventually get compensation, what happens in the meantime?

As a result of my random thought processes, I was just wondering.....with a sum of money provided by crowd-funding, what is the tax situation regarding that money? Is it treated as an income lump sum and taxed? Or as a tax-free windfall like a lottery or premium bond win?

I don't know Pyxis. I was thinking of writing to my MP about it as it is something that would be better administered centrally. Unfortunately such a fund would be targeted by scammers. If the govt ran it on behalf of the public, or in conjunction with an organisation the DEC, they could then source relevant records to ensure needs are genuine.

Nevertheless there is a strong drive to do the right thing for people in this situation. I think people would get on board.

In personal injury cases, the claimant can ask the court to award interim payments. In many cases, this is in the defendant's interests, in any case, as early medical intervention may aid recovery.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Have you thought of adding him to the digital memorial PN?

We're only two pages away from starting the next thread. Whose turn is it this time?

Poor pastures. :( death by tools. :(

It is so annoying when you don't have the right thing(s) for a relatively simple job.

Re.the electric screwdriver, I remember you talking about using that some time ago.
What were you doing the last time you used it? You might have left it near that.

Or were you taking it somewhere else? If so, it might be in the car.

The last time I used it was to try to tighten that screw - and failed.
I've not taken it out of the house, ever.

It's here somewhere..."hidden in plain view" probably - it'll turn out that I've been "man looking" :)

    Man-looking! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Could just as easily be teenage-offspring-looking!

My answer was always "It's where you last put it!" :rotfl:

Do you keep the screwdriver screwhead bits somewhere different? Might be with them?

Or with other things waiting to be done?

Do you have a garage or a shed? You've probably looked there, though.
    Under the stairs?
    In a different tool box?
    With bits of 'useful' wood?
    Porch?

Did you use a bag, box or bucket to take stuff out to the gate that time? Might still be in there.

Hopefully it's not been left out by mistake in all weathers. :(

Failing all that, it's time to start looking in the most unlikely places, like your makeup drawer! :D

I think the problem came when I "tidied up for Xmas", which would have involved removing everything from the living room I didn't think I'd need for 2-3 weeks at least.

The box should live under the stairs, it's not there.
If not there, and under the "tidying up..." banner I'd have expected to carry stuff upstairs, open the 2nd bedroom door and plonk everything down on the floor, then run.

It wouldn't be in my bedroom (checked 3x though) as the 2nd bedroom's for "random stuff". It wouldn't be in the downstairs loo (checked 3x though) as it's not an appropriate item to put in there. It wouldn't be in the kitchen as it's not an appropriate kitchen item and space is at a premium anyway. I wouldn't have put it in the linen/towels cupboard, although I haven't actually double checked there... maybe I should, but I'll be annoyed if I do check and it's not there as I "KNOW" it's not there as that'd be a stupid place to have put it.

The only reasonable places for it to be would be under the stairs or in the 2nd bedroom.

EDIT: I did go and look in the upstairs cupboard.... not there.

The box it's in might be in another box in that bedroom. Or under the bed?
    In a suitcase?
    Top of wardrobe?
    Underneath other random stuff?
