Man-looking! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Could just as easily be teenage-offspring-looking!
My answer was always "It's where you last put it!" :rotfl:
The usual place to find something is in the last place you'd think of looking
A greater problem can be when you put things away "somewhere safe".
When I worked at the Watercress Line steam railway another volunteer spent half of one Saturday making a special tool to aid the disassembly on which he was working. He spent all day Sunday using it then, when he went home, he put it away "somewhere safe".
He then spent half of the following Saturday scouring the workshop and cursing the ********* ******** who'd nicked his special tool, before making another. He spent all the Sunday using the replacement then, when he went home, went to put it somewhere safe - and found the first one :rotfl:0 -

This is why I daren't change the 'usual' place I put things in. Experience has taught me that if I do, I'll keep going to the old place, and won't remember where the new place is.
If , by any chance, I just have to change the place, I leave myself a note in the old place! :rotfl:(I just lurve spiders!)

I went out to see if poundland had bits.... they didn't. So I went into A1d1 - they had bits, but two different sorts - and I've no idea if mine is one sort, the other, or a 3rd type.... so I came home.
Trouble at 't Mill. Ferals on property .... so I fronted them.... as you do.
Anyway ...moving on ....
I tried to drill a random hole in a bit of random wood ... 5 minutes of drilling has produced a dent large enough for half of a small lentil to nestle in. I don't think I'm going to be very good at this!
At least I've now got a handy bit of 1x2" in the house to wave about if needs be0 -
We're only two pages away from starting the next thread. Whose turn is it this time?

If it is battery operated it almost certainly came with anscrew driver bit not a drill. Drill bits look like spirals, they have different ends depending if they are for masonary (bricks) or wood.I think....0

First thing for screw out problem is try to screw old one back in. If it won't hold but wood is not split then screw in a bigger one. I can imagine a no more nails product would hold any sort of latch on firmly enough.
I wish I lived nearer PN, I would be round in a flash to help you out with a screw. I have a hole jar full of random sizes so I bet I have one that would suit your slot.I think....0 -

So, with a drill and a drill bit I'd expect to drill holes - but the bit looks like a screwdriver bit .... so I'm very confused really.
When I looked briefly at the bits in the shop they were more blunt ended, not posi-drive/Phillips drive screwdriver bit looking.
It sucks to be clueless.
These are screwdriver bits, for doing up or undoing screws;
Whilst this is a drill bit for making the holes in the first place;I'm also wondering if my screw-hole-filling using no nails has set yet ... or if I've actually just created myself a new headache as I "shouldn't have done that... like that ... with that ..... oh no, not at all...."
One way to fill screwholes using glue is to use it to stick matchsticks (with the heads cut off) into the hole. However, a proper filler is better.
If, as I understand it, you're trying to fix a loose latch because the screws have worked loose and won't do up tightly - jam some matchsticks into the hole (no glue needed) until you can't get any more in, then put the screw back in. That ought to be tight enough then.0 -
You can get sets of mixed screws from many places, like Wilkinson etc., Poundland probably, too. Possibly some supermarkets.
Plus sets of mixed rawlplugs.
Also, you can get reasonably-priced sets of drill bits .......ones for wood, and ones for masonry.
Ditto, screwdriver bits sets.
Yes , the matchstick tip is very useful. I've used that a few times!
It's a really good idea to practice on random wood first.(I just lurve spiders!)

That's true, we don't really have to stick to a 10,000 post limit, but I had the opportunity to be a thread founder, and wouldn't wish to deny it to anybody else. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
