One "up side" of being poor is I don't leave the sofa. It's probably quite a safe place to be.... I can't see terrorists beating a track to blow up hermit spinsters on their sofa to be honest.

These terrorists are pathetic. Great, they take a bomb to the metro station local to the EU Commission.

If they were strong they'd take an army there. They show they are weak by taking a small bomb in a carrier bag. Screw them, their only power comes from our fear.

BBC1 are running a News Special for this bombing. Why?

They know nothing new from minute to minute, it's all a bit chaotic/ad-hoc and presenters know nothing so are filling time with fluff. And, there's a perfectly usable BBC24 that runs the news 24/7.

All normal programmes have been cancelled as this "not telling you anything really" "live" news coverage is aired.

As there's a perfectly good News channel, wouldn't it be better to run all normal programmes, with a simple ticker tape along the bottom with changes/updates and telling people (who are interested) to go to BBC24 for the latest change/update.

It's so they can do the: 15 dead....20 dead....22 dead.... reports of dead people coming in.................185 dead.

For the news channels (and all the news channels in Aus, France, the US and UK plus the odd random ones I've seen do the same) they ramp up the tension and stop you changing the channel in the ads by ratcheting up the dead score.

Remember that whatever number of dead you have by tea time will be 20% overstated by Sunday night.

They keep re-running the same clip, over and over and over again. A dark, smokey, gloomy scene from inside the tunnel, where they're removing people from the train and taking them up the track. The trouble is, the backdrop of this is a child screaming/crying - that body-piercing scream that only kids can make.

Over and over and over again. Then again.

This is the sort of thing Twitter/Facebook are useful for, if you're a regular user of them you can update your feed immediately so people you know don't worry about you. For most people, most of the time, those sites aren't really that "useful". But, at times of chaos etc, they can be useful for people to get information.

It's still "just" 26 dead at the moment. 11 at the airport, 15 at the train station.

We have more than that at the airport and none at the metro. It was 15 at the metro over here but that dropped to zero a while ago.

How many people will die from car smashes across the EU today I wonder...? Or from cancer or smoking or just farking about.

When you've had five hours sleep and you have to pick toilet roll holders and loo brushes for seven different bathrooms.

    That feeling. I'm feeling it.

Earlier it was door stops and coat hooks. This afternoon I fretted that I missed window restrictors off that order.

I left all the really boring stuff right to the end of this project. Beginning to wish I hadn't.

Thoughts are with the bereaved, Wheezys compatriots and travellers/commuters every where.

I still remember an ex boss coming in to my office and asking whether my husband was travelling that day. It was 9/11. He was working in the USA but as luck had it, at home for the week.

I know it is giving in to the threat but wish I could reduce Oh's travel. His reduced travel is still about 3 trips a month.
