So glad you had a great time Sue. As you are posting on the train and it is all fresh in your mind... will you tell us all about the best bit? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

The free gifts at a menswear shop!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Seriously though, Tower Bridge was cheap to do and accessibility was brilliant but on the downside, it was also very busy and the glass is certainly showing a fair bit of wear with lots of scuffs and scratches.
The Shard is very expensive for what it is but I still think it's something that should be done at least once in your life. We thought we lucked out as the only tickets we could get was for 5.30, as it turned out it was an amazing time to go as when we first got up the top there was some light but by the end of the visit, it was properly dark.We made it! Not good news re job. Candidate with better experience etc.
Invited to next interview though on Tuesday next week, so that's great. It would be a complete career change - and I would welcome that!
The best part of it is that it would mean working in Inner Herts again, and due to the commuting costs and location if I get it I will be moving house to Inner HertsIf that's not a good omen, I don't know what is.
If you are getting to the final stage you know you are doing things right. Best of luck for next week.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. That sounds well worth it, as there aren't many viewpoints where you can see London from that height.
Having said that there are a few points on the M11 there are one or two points where you can see London opening out ahead of you a bit below you.
We visited Tower bridge a while back and found it to be so packed it was chaotic.
Mas, good luck with the next interview! There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Mas, good luck with the next interview!
So long as it's not foggy, you can see the London Eye from my office. Still makes me smile.
Good luck next week, Mas. I'm sure the right job will find you - just that this week's wasnt it0 -
Sounds like you have a lovely view Nikks.
Thanks for the update Sue. It would appear that everyone has thought to visit Tower Bridge except me... so it has just made it on to the "to do" list. The Shard was already on my list, but now I know the time of day to go.
I'm really confuzzled by what you got free from the menswear shop though! Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? If it's in April (I believe the deadline is almost there or just missed), in a shortage subject you've probably got no chance!
Good luck with that, and good luck to Mas!
September, I'm glad to say. If it was April I think our acting head of physics would have several litters of kittens instead of the single litter she's had so far.vivatifosi wrote: »Thanks for the update Sue. I haven't been to Tower Bridge since my brother took me there when I was little - perhaps I was 10 and he was 19 or something like that. The Shard wasn't there in those days and I haven't been there yet.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I'm really confuzzled by what you got free from the menswear shop though!
We actually got up there just before 5.30 but I would say that the best time would be when the light is just beginning to dim so that it becomes dark during your time up there. That way, you get the best of both worlds without having to pay the extra £10 per ticket to get the night and day view (although you only get to go up once during the day instead of twice).
Once up at the top, there is no time restriction to how long you can stay.
Re Tower Bridge, disabled AND their carer are free so we only had to pay for 1 and that was at student rate. It cost us a very cheap £6.30 and for that we got the double walkway at the top, various films and bits to watch/look at and then a visit to the engine room.
The menswear shop - They were celebrating 1 year in that shop so were offering 10% off plus a free gift with every purchase. James got 2 posh new shirts which were very oddly priced, 1 shirt for £60, 2 for £55 but on a special offer of 2 for £49.50 (plus 10% off). He had also been eyeing up a super duper tie but at £40 it was out of his price range.....it turned out that was his free gift!
Joe got himself a new leather belt, original price £35, 10% off and his free gift was a pair of cufflinks which again were on sale in the store for £40. His reason for choosing the cufflink free gift over the tie free gift was that it was shiny...he likes shiny things :rotfl:We made it!
