We often use vegan custard, made by Alpro. It's okay, but not as good as milk based custard.
Sorry, that doesn't help with lasagne. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Just in case some of the nice people may have missed what was undoubtedly the most important news of the week ....

Yeah, I saw that in the local rags a day or so earlier - it sure made me chuckle0 -
Thanks all. Currently trying to figure out lasagne - will make white sauce using lacto-free milk (or soya/almond milk) but need cheese for topping.....
I'm sure all this catering for different food intolerances is a great learning experience but it feels like hard work.
Just ask them if they can tolerate the very, very small amount of lactose in hard cheeses like cheddar, as many lactose-intolerant people can.

Youngest can tolerate very small amounts of dairy products with no ill effects (he is lactose and casein intolerant). It is only in larger, more normal quantities that he starts having problems. Just to make things harder, he is also intolerant to soya.
He made the mistake of having a cappucino yesterday just to try it out.....the silly begger has been paying for it ever since! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I don't fully understand how different shapes of pasta taste so different. Spaghetti bolognese is pretty fine but lasagne is just magnificent, even though the ingredients are pretty similar. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0

One of my relatives has a phobia of pasta shells. She is fine with penne and spiralle, but if I dare to even show her a pack of pasta shells, she'd probably faint. That's before you even get to the taste! Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
