During that visit one of my friends had a ceiling mirror above the bed in her hotel room  :rotfl:

My fear would be that it would fall on top of me. Mirrors are heavy!

Summer house roof is leaking badly. 2 men to repair it.
Day 1: man2 decides man1 has ordered inferior roofing felt. palaver getting product changed.

Day 2: Men are puzzled how the roof is supported, looks like the roof supports are just held by little screws into the walls.

Day 3: They both stand on the same support...and it moves....downwards. Luckily it doesn't completely collapse.

    Sighs in frustration.

Living inside the London city limits (but only just) I've got to say, detached is one of the rarer house descriptions.

The bbc report on best and worst towns is interesting. When I first lived in England I had a friend who lived in Guildford and after a few visits I realised it's an absolute cracker of a town. There's stacks to do if you're young and single.

The report didn't explore how family-friendly it is, as I've read elsewhere that it is ( or was) the divorce capital of the UK.

I was raised near Guildford and judging by some of the insufferable !!!!!s I used to meet I'm not surprised. I wouldn't want to be married to them either!

It is a nice town with even nicer villages nearby though. I can highly recommend the Seahorses pub in Shalford.

I am downstairs in the sitting room, Oh is upstairs asleep, dd is not at home. Our little cat asleep on the back of a sofa, when a big black cat slinks past me up onto the sofa and attacks poor Meggy! I had to break up the punch up and big black cat fled upstairs into daughters room. I am not sure it has gone out of the window and am unable to scrabble about under the bed to check.

That is pretty much how our last big black cat moved in.Meggy is too old for a challenger now. Will have to try & catch it and get it checked for microchip & look for its owner.

Good looking cat, quite big. Any NP in need of a moggy if I have to rehome it?
Last weekend DD was scared by a badger that galumphed up the path after her as she shut the bunnies stable door for the night.

Very scary round here without a dog. Local strays and wildlife didn't know he was a friendly old boy who cba to chase them.

    Touche.....

    Or is that touchy?

    Regardless.... Well done.:D

Umm, the bike weighs 300Kg, but roughly half is taken by the wheels and the other half is taken by Hamish. Plus, if the heavy bits like the engine are low down (when the bike is vertical), it may be more like 200kg on the wheels and 100kg by Hamish. Still, that's more than I could lift.

Mmmm.... The fact I could lift it once but not twice is probably a dire reflection on my fitness levels.

I'm a fairly well built person (with an additional top layer of arctic proof blubber, as you'd expect from all truly Northern inhabitants :D) and lifting large weights is usually not a problem.

But it might be time to get back in something resembling better shape after winter.:o

300kg is a lot to dead lift. Still it's always a good time to be fitter!

I've got an Aldi coming later this year (end of the summer) ... looking forward to it because when I go into Aldis they always seem to have more/better/nicer sounding things than Lidl. But, I suspect, it's like all new experiences, you think it's better until you get one.

There's a good/bad Aldi/Lidl thread on the boards somewhere - I had high hopes when I read that, but those people really eat some bizarre things and it's not an easy thread to plough through at all, but I have made some brief bookmarks in case.

Of course, what's good/not is personal, otherwise there'd be no choice if everybody agreed that something was good :)

Top tip from Gen re pool chemicals, such a headache for me every year with my huge pool..... I suspect Aldi UK don't stock pool chemicals though.
