Is there space for extra units or worktop?
No
So if you see someone bumbling along looking puzzled and perturbed, and a touch perplexed, it'll probably be Pyxis the Peculiar!
Welcome to my odd world
Could you put the breadbin under the boiler, the micro where the breadbin was with the mini-oven on top?
Micro where breadbin was = no as I don't like operating a microwave in any form of 'confined space'
Mini oven on top = no because that's where the wall cupboard is, so no room for it. Plus, I'd not be able to use either appliance with them stacked for fear of clearance spaces and potential for fire and one falling/being knocked off
If kitchen wall units are too high to reach, either get something to stand on or lower the units.
Well, you'd think so - but something to stand on then becomes a trip hazard when you're a uni-tasker with a bit of built in "panic mode".
put the microwave on the floor.... stick the breadbin on top =
I expect PN would say it was too expensive
Yes - an unnecessary. I saw that TV programme too.
I have one of those kickstep rolling things, which is handy for the middle shelves and doesn't take up too much floor space.
Due to the layout of my kitchen I am perpetually back/forth/back/forth etc.... you can't stand still and do anything in it, so there's no real "out of the way" spot that's not already taken up by something else.
It also doesn't help that there's something in the kitchen that should really in "a project and being done in the utility room" except I've no utility room so something large in the kitchen that shouldn't be there.0 -
I believe the builders are breaking ground today. Seems to be some noise/activity going on, if I peek I bet I'd see foundations being dug out.
In the garden I have one of those "cheap plastic tubs", plastic with two moulded handles, about 15" high, 18" across the top, you see them stacked up in supermarkets and cheapo shops at about £2-5 each in the "storage" sections.
Over recent weeks it's nigh on filled 3/4 with rainwater. I just checked it, there's a solid, SOLID, 1" of ice across the whole top!!0 -
Can you pull the disability card and get the HA to install a new kitchen with these drop down units in? Available from Howdens by the way.
I doubt they would, would have to go via occupational health and whilst they are good at doing hand rails, they are pap at anything more substantial (the HA not OH)We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

There's always levitation lessons?
Or hoverboots?
Or a winch and cable, you know, like they have in theatres for Peter Pan, and the Fairy Godmother?(I just lurve spiders!)

Ooh crumbs, Lydia! It would take a lifetime to explain!
I just seem to have a different level of expectations of what's right and what's wrong, different from a lot of other people's, and it can make me a bit miserable at times.
No worries. I've bumbled along this long, so I'll bumble along a bit more! :rotfl:
Well, as long as you know we're happy to let you offload here any time you decide you need to.
I think a lot of people feel variations on a theme of "everybody else is sorted and I'm not". For me, it's not so much about expectations of right and wrong as about what's difficult and what's easy. I have felt, since primary school, that I am the sort of person who finds difficult what everybody else finds easy, and finds easy what everybody else finds difficult, in a variety of ways. There's always levitation lessons?

I needed a laugh this evening. Thanks for that.
On Monday evening my throat started feeling scratchy and my voice started going hoarse. On Tuesday morning I felt worse. I cancelled my plans for my day off (first meeting with a bloke off a dating website) and spent all day doing my best to recover, sleeping for most of it. I emailed work to say I might not be in on Wednesday, and they might like to think about contingency plans for covering my lessons. The day of sleep/rest seemed to help and this morning I felt not quite so bad, although unable to speak above a whisper, so I went to work. I have taught 4 hours and done a department meeting, despite my voice still being not much better than "whisper only" and feeling generally ugh - aching joints etc. I arrived at work this morning at 7:30, and by the time I'd finished all my non-contact work (mostly lesson preparation) it was after 6pm by the time I left to come home - so usual working hours for a Wednesday. It took me until 10:30 to be able to do anything beyond flopping into bed, sleeping and then waking feeling weak and getting my kids to sort me out some soup. I think tomorrow I will call in sick even if I feel the same as I did this morning. We all feel under a lot of unofficial pressure to get into work if we possibly can, because it's a pain for the department to have to cover absences, and for our classes to have the "wrong" teacher, but I don't think it's sustainable if it means all I can do out of school is sleep. Anyway, I've brought some marking home that I can do while off sick, and I can write my reports too (due tomorrow 4:30pm) so at least I won't be letting anybody down about those.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I'm glad I'm not a teacher, I hate letting people down but I also think that if you are sick you should jot share it around and minimise your total off work time which generally means listening to your body and not trying to tough it out as that will catch up with you eventually even if it is years later....
Hope you feel better soon Lydia and I am sure if the date was worth having he will rescheduleI think....0 -
