I'm glad I'm not a teacher, I hate letting people down but I also think that if you are sick you should jot share it around and minimise your total off work time which generally means listening to your body and not trying to tough it out as that will catch up with you eventually even if it is years later....

Hope you feel better soon Lydia and I am sure if the date was worth having he will reschedule

Thanks. I emailed in sick this morning and got a nice reply from the deputy head (who happens to belong to my department) telling me to take care and keep warm, and regretting not making me go home yesterday! (See, I said the pressure was unofficial.) The man from yesterday has also texted to ask how I am feeling, so he seems to have a nice understanding sort of attitude too. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Agree with the not sharing it around, for students like youngest it can mean a hospital stay if they do!

Also agree with the listening to your body, far better to rest and get over things than try to work through it, have it last for ages and generally have more far reaching consequences for your future health and well being.

Never forget when ex hubby got chicken pox, he was one of those who would go into work come what may, seeing it as a weakness if you didn't. He rang his boss to let him know he had chicken pox but not to worry, he was still coming in...the boss's reply is not repeatable without getting a ban but it went along the lines of go forth and multiply, I don't want the copulating thing either! :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Morning all. Lots of germs around. I'm full of cold but still working as I work from home. However, if I walk past the bedroom door at any point today, I may just be tempted to get back into bed.

I have had to let people down though. Should be attending a few village events over the next few days, have already called to say today is not happening, tomorrow unlikely, will see what the weekend brings.
Spend less now, work less later.

Hehe, when I switched to homeworking, I set the equipment up in a corner of my bedroom.
I told the boss that all I needed in addition was a wireless keyboard, wireless mouse and a pair of binoculars (already had cordless phone) and I wouldn't need to get out of bed at all ;)

As I type a man is pulling down the old fence that's alongside my shed, it appears. although for a second now he's stopped... not sure what's going to happen. I don't believe that bit's "my fence", and it was rickety.

Oh there it goes!. Or not....

    I'll know in a minute.

That bit of fence was the boundary between me and the plot. So that'd make it open into the plot.

He seems to have stopped for now... big digger bucket coming closer (this is all about 20'/6m from me)

It's still there... maybe he was freeing some entangled roots from it.... have to wait and see.

Ah, there it goes, the bucket deliberately pulled it down.

EDIT: Been out, as you do, all "British" as it were :) Nosey bugg4h.
They're putting in a new fence, right now. Fencing man's there.

I hope you've you've got a kettle and a microwave in there as well!

    Oh, and a bedpan :D:D

I'm tending to live in my bedroom these days:
The rest of the house is too full of 'stuff', plus it's a lot warmer, as the heat rises, plus it's comfy, and if I get a bit cold, I just pull up the duvet!

(NB. I don't have my kettle and microwave in there. Or a bedpan. I have to get some exercise! :rotfl:)

You should be filming all this and putting it on youtube..... You could make a fortune in advert revenue! :rotfl:

I've not got the equipment to be recording. How long does a phone camera work for? 10 minutes max probably before it goes dead.
