I don't know how to find ITV3, I'll have to look it up - but, I would not expect to know any of the people in such a programme.

    Ah Freeview/Ch 10 :)

I once asked on a thread if anyone had ever discovered that someone they knew was a username they had conversed with on a forum, but not realised.

It would be even funnier if it turned out that their mortal thread-enemy was someone they knew!

Or if their thread best buddy was someone they didn't get on with IRL.

Don't the leccy company pay you for the surplus, then?

No. If you have the old kind of analogue meter, you are supposed to get a digital one that can only go forwards when you get solar panels fitted. You continue to pay for the leccy you use at the normal rate (such at what you use when it's dark outside and the panels aren't generating). You get paid quite separately for what you generate (regardless of whether you then use it yourself) - some people get a really high rate for this, up to 3 times the cost you pay for using leccy, and others get a bit less or a lot less, depending on when you had your panels installed. You also get paid for what you feed into the grid, although the rate for this is much lower than the generation tariff (and also a lot lower than the cost of buying leccy), so it may be "deemed" to be half of what you generate if the installers didn't bother to fit a feed-in meter in addition to the generation meter.

I don't like those ones. Geraldine McEwan does a good job, but the scriptwriters mucked about with the stories so much that if you're at all familiar with the books they're just too wrong to tolerate. Give me the BBC ones with Joan Hickson any time.

I also like IMDB to work out what else I've seen actors in.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    Yey!

Joan Hickson is THE Miss Marple!

    No-one else even comes close.

I've got the entire series on video.

Apparently, the Christie family approved of Joan Hickson, (Agatha herself had wanted Hickson to play Miss Marple, although she never saw the productions), and loathed the other versions, especially the Margaret Rutherford ones.

The wind's whipped up out there. The trouble with night-time is you can't see what's going on.... you can just hear strange bangs.

Now there's no building next door, I've yet to discover if I get more wind or less wind when there's a storm. Did it protect me, or did the wind whipping round it lessen in its journey.

    I hate the wind :(

The weather page doesn't even look like it's close to being "strong" either! 15/E. I can normally hear things banging when it's 40-60 or so ... but it usually comes from the S/S-W.

Weather page also shows the wind swinging round through E, ESE, S, SSW, SW, WSW, W, WNW in the next 12 hours or so.

This Storm Angus runs from now through until 11am. Wind expected to be up to 80mph gusts.

I hate overnight storms. Expect me to be up all night.

Just popping outside to move some stuff around ... some's already moving by itself. I don't want the recycling bin to fall over... although there's not much in it it'd still be a nuisance.

I'd try and sell that photo to the bbc tomorrow morning when they are looking for storm damage shots :)

Good news is all the tiles are off.

Good news for the demolition crew is that they may not have to do the remaining roof section on Monday.
    I think....

Just watching the programme on telly about Christie's auction.

A Chinese man landed at the airport 1 hour before and went to Christies, not to buy anything - and just bought a picture for $2.8million.

Not only had he not intended to buy anything, he was just there for a look - but - he also hadn't seen the picture, he just saw it as the bidding was about to close and stuck his hand up with his bid .... but .... what was this fabulous painting?

It was just a plain blue rectangle, not even A3 sized.

    !!!!!!??
