Oh Pastures, how horribly stressful for you :( I'm so sorry.

The owner of the house next door, which is currently let out to a couple of female mature students, wants to convert it into 2 flats. The plan would mean someone's lounge would be on the other side of our bedroom wall, and the party wall is quite thin - we can hear when people are talking next door, and they must be able to hear us. Would we be within our rights to ask them to insulate the party wall, especially as they plan to extend into the loft as well? We have until 13th October to "comment".

ETA Of course we know we can ask them to insulate the party wall; I suppose what I mean is, can we expect that the council would require them to do that under the circumstances, or are we dependent on their goodwill?

Soundproofing is part of the building regulations requirements when converting flats. So yes, you can ask as it should be done.

Slightly less exotically, I thought this was rather lovely, yes it's one of my trucks on the Skye bridgethought not terribly identifiable! If it's too big, let me know and I'll delete it.

Oh, so it was your lot who held me up on the A87
    Only kidding ;)

I recognised the bridge although not the truck. At a guess, taken from somewhere around Kyle harbour/station?

Saturday evening - might have been and we don't care 'cos we're dead 'ard and keeping the economy moving along:p .:rotfl:

Must have been about there - had a van driver over North Hebs came back on the same boat and obviously ahead of the truck, decided to take a photo.

:T for guessing the right side of the bridge.

I apparently have not quite reached peak stuff, because I bought an Amazon Echo for £100. It's weird talking to Alexa. I tend to be very polite, eg "Alexa, please turn the volume down a bit". But someone at Amazon must be a MCP, because this is on the list of recommended commands: "Alexa, shut up!"
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I am now the parent of a 23 year old....I feel old today.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Didn't understand a word of this.

    I'm guessing it's a posh alert .... :)

I'm assuming it's something like Siri on the iPad

I've had my iPad nearly 3 years, but still haven't turned Siri on!

I think it may just be a natural extension of my Luddite tendencies, but I rally don't want more tech, I want less. I have a few things, do like the tinternet for all its uses, but i don't want a machine to do things like turn volume down, or provide parking advice or a fridge that tells me I'm low on lettuce.:(
