This little puddy-tat joined me and my holiday group in Montenegro when we were singing up a mountain in a little church. It stuck with us the whole time, and joined in, miaowing, not quite in the right key!

Kotor is famous for its cats. They are semi-feral, but are well-tolerated. The cats of Kotor have become a tourist feature! There is a cat museum and two cat shops, for buying cat-related gifts! Some of the proceeds go towards feeding the cats, which, for the most part, look pretty ok. More so than in Italy or Greece. (And no stray dogs that I saw, either!)

A hybrid 'schooner' docked at the old town entrance at Kotor, taken from the terrace of the restaurant where we eating that night.
(It's diesel-powered as well as the sails!) this was quite small compared to a couple of the cruise ships that docked there on other days.)

If I were you, I would get to Montenegro sharpish. The airport at Podgorica, the capital, is about to be purloined by Easyjet and Ryanair, for direct flights from Britain, and a massive programme of tourist development is about to start along the coast. If you want to see it it in relatively unspoilt state, go ASAP.

It is soooooo beautiful. The people are incredibly friendly. Loads of them speak English. The food is glorious; actually much, much better than an equivalently-priced holiday in Italy or Greece. The weather at this time of year is perfect....warm, but not too hot, with fresher evenings. The hotel was wonderful. The fact that we were actually staying there for a week, and weren't just popping in off a cruise-ship was also much appreciated.

I can really recommend it. :)

For all Geography lovers.......this was the view we got of an incredible ox-bow meander, in the river leading off Lake Skadar, on our way to the small-holding where we spent lunchtime to dinnertime on Friday.

(The photo doesn't really do it justice, to be honest).

I still don't understand why very small children - ie short enough not to be seen in a car's windows - are playing around cars. It's an accident waiting to happen and the parents need to take responsibility. Why would you let children who may not even know how to cross a road out to play in a street without adult supervision?

Parents have a responsibility not to neglect their children and to keep them safe. It's hard to see how allowing preschoolers to play around cars meets this.

I keep coming back to this ever-so-reasonable post. Of course you are right, and the parents are falling down on the job.

PN could solve her parking problem as follows:

    1. report said parents to social services.
    2. kids get taken into care.

Some people might think is a sub-optimal solution, particularly for the kids. :D
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

We played on the road when we were kids. I live on the A38, so my kids don't.

But if there were kids playing when I was taking my car out, I'd ask them to stand where I could see them. Like I have to make sure I can see the dogs when they're out.

We complain that children are on electronic devices too much and then criticise their parents for letting them out.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

They may not have it now, but they had anti-climb paint in my local Aldi for 50p a tin two weeks ago in the outside clearance sale.

Aldi's not near me... and those clearance sales, I believe (never seen one) are one-day events.

I thought I'd just do the top bit on the inside (not the top strip) .... get sticky fingers when you reach over the clamber up.

This is obviously a bit of a problem, so why don't your neighbours do something about it?

The one thing that has caused me a problem is shortbread fingers which apparently look like cannabis on a scan. Somehow the pack was less appealing when it had been gone over with a drug scanning wipe. That was on Eurostar.

I cannot think of anyone less likely to be a drug mule than you viva!:D

Had to laugh; when in Montenegro. I was talking to the breakfast waitress about the language, and I said that of course, the most important word to learn was the word for the loo!
Then she said that next most important word that people asked to translate was 'internet access code'!

    :D

If you don't mind, I think you'll find the most important phrase in any language is, 'my friend will pay':rotfl:

Sounds like a fantastic place to visit, love the pictures.

Slightly less exotically, I thought this was rather lovely, yes it's one of my trucks on the Skye bridgethought not terribly identifiable! If it's too big, let me know and I'll delete it.
