.... Ufton Nervet rail crash happened back in 2004....
    Never heard of it :)

You're right - there's little news these days.... lots of celebs I've never heard of poncing about - and, too often, lots of pointless "on location" 'journalists' speculating nothing about things they don't know about.

    "... I'm standing on a bridge .... close to the ...."
*cue camera fanning round to blurry image of overhead lights in the distance*
"... something's happened, I don't know what, but I have to stand here for 4 hours and try not to repeat myself too often while I report 'nothing to report'.... over to you in the studio"

I'm sure your mate Nicola has a solution.....

On the recent visit we happened upon her.

We walking around the city and saw what we thought looked a nice cafe (in my defence, parent likes walking but tires easily, the miles walked to tea breaks ratio was very low). Went in and the door guy told us that parliament was in session and there were visitor gallery tickets available. So we sat in on a session. Discussion on the Brexit effect on Scottish trade with the rest of Britain. NP thread so I can say the accents are lovely, the architecture interesting and seemed contrary to the way the Parliament does business. It mimics Westminster totally, seems out of place in such a modern building.

Let me get this right........Nilsson was on his interview panel, but when the news broke about what he'd (Nilsson) had done, your mate didn't recognise him then, but did recognise him when he saw his figure in Madame Tussaud's?

No he recognised him alright as he'd been working for him for quite a while, but after the guy had gone to jail, it surprised and creeped my mate out to bump into "him" (or his likeness) unexpectedly at a waxworks afterwards.

I've felt that I've been waiting for summer to start - and it never really did. We had some nice days, but so much rain etc and promises of heatwaves that never happened.

    Now it's over :(

Yet we had a brilliant summer with very little rain for at least a couple of months.

Best season ever for the summer traders down here this year.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Just how much did that 'tea shop' cost to build in the end?
    I think....

The West is wetter/windier than the East, in general.

I remember, in the East, long/dry summers.
All I can remember in the West is lots of wind/rain.

House orientation does play a big part of it though. I sometimes feel there's a "good day out there" except it's out there and I'm in here. House faces the wrong way to spot it - and if I step outside I'm in a wind tunnel.

I took the advice, I've got a shopping delivery booked for tonight. Good thing really, today I am mostly confined upstairs as I am unable to manage the stairs to get outside or if I do manage to get downstairs, to get back upstairs for the loo!

My own fault, I ignored all the signs yesterday and ended up completely overdoing it.

My memory of Dorset and the surrounding counties is fun, booze, lovely surroundings....and the wind.

One of my worse memories of that area is being in a gale and holding on desperately to a bit of tent canvas and a pole to stop it flying away. My parents arrived on site at the same time and their first view was of me trying not to go airborne and their second, of poles from the awning behind me flying towards their car like javelins.

Still love it down there though and would love to get back there for a holiday but the distance is just too far for me to drive now.

Our solar panels don't lie - it was a very sunny summer in the SE after a dull June and also according to the weather stats a remarkably warm one.

We also had our annual week in Devon at the end of August and it was generally mostly warm and sunny which is completely unheard of, normally we get about 1 day that is not too wet and cold, this year there was only one wet and cold day.
    I think....

Clapton, welcome to the NPT. You seem unaware of our self imposed norms. We leave our political opinions at the door along with our muddy shoes and get together to discuss other, more pressing issues. Do you like mushrooms?
He does, but only British White closed cup mushrooms. Not that awful foreign stuff. :)
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.
