What is a pleasure house?
I wondered that .... it could be a beach hut ... it was a coastal area
With his wealth it could be anything from a beach hut to a holiday home.
I don't think it means he owned a knocking shop business.... which hadn't occurred to me until I really thought through what it could be.
His gravestone's still there - got a big vault just outside the church door. He appears to have been a very kind and generous man and well thought of. Not knocking shop owner material.0 -

I give up.
Everybody looks the same to me. I can't work out who is who, what their "job" is, what's going on, who is related, who is a goodie or baddie .... no idea what is going on whatsoever.0 -

Did you watch the first series? If not, I can understand that it wouldn't be an easy task at all.
I think there's a resumė on Wikipedia if you google it. That should help you work out what's happened and who is who.(I just lurve spiders!)

Costume dramas are like that. The weirdness of historical costumes and hairstyles becomes the only thing you notice and swamps the individuality of the characters.
When I was a kid I used to find the BBC's Sunday black and white costume dramas to be excruciatingly boring. On the other hand, Blackadder and The Upstart Crow have made up for that. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Yes I watched the first one - and struggled to work out who was who in that too
I have a form of prosopagnosia, so struggle to recognise people.
When watching the telly I really need people to all look very different from each other, so I can keep track
This lot all look the same to me.0 -
Oh Pastures, that must be such a nuisance
I can just remember Bootsie and Snudge, and my brother who's older used to love The Army Game.0 -

Probably yesterday's equivalent of a shed!:D
I'm not great sometimes at managing to spot who is who in a programme - I like all the characters to look radically different, though since I have neither TV or broadband at home, it doesn't exactly matter.0 -

PN does your laptop lack a soundcard or just speakers? You can watch GS on catchup. Headphones are next to nothing (Poundland do them). There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I use a PC, the speakers are quite large (say half a shoebox each + a smaller bit) and need a socket to plug into ... it's a faff (for effort and space) ....
My laptop is very noisy - so it's rarely used as it seems to "be noisy and gets hot".
I COULD ... if I really wanted to, but I don't have the attention span and desire to get round to it0
