Just saw this advertised on The One Show and thought it would be up your street Pastures (if you haven't already clocked it):

    Ha ha ha, cross posted!
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

There's no speaker on my PC, I have to find/unpack the speakers, plug them into the wall, plug them into the PC .... all a faff :)

It wasn't important, just a whim I'd have followed at that moment in time if I'd been part of the year 2000 yet. :)

No need for speakers. Just turn on subtitles, and spend an hour getting better understanding of what it's like for the deaf.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

It is very interesting what 'ownership' of a company means as a shareholder. Should you try and influence the company directly or should you only do so indirectly via trading the shares?

We're a very big shareholder in many Aussie companies holding over 5% many times. As a result our holdings will often make the difference in a tight vote so it's worth companies keeping close to us.

That just gave us the access. Then my colleagues had a good message and a persuasive argument which management decided to test out.

Sky News is reporting that it has managed to obtain a huge number of records on Islamic State members from a defector in Turkey. It contains personal details and who recommended them. A major coup if correct.

Hopefully it will prove to be an enigma machine rather than the Hitler Diaries.

PN, when you PM me, send me the newspaper details too. I'll have a bash and see whether I can access. It may be one I can't get to, but worth a shot.

I guess when you are that big and have that much money you cant just dump every company you dont like.

Has anyone actually got over this flu thing yet? Google suggests they are calling it swine flu elsewhere in Europe but only occasionally in the uk.
    I think....

I didn't know there was any "flu thing". I've actually never, ever, had flu ...not once.

You need to eat more pies, they seem to keep flu at bay.

I don't know about swine flu, it should be called the boomerang bug. It's as though everyone has had a degree of virus for most of 2016 to date. I don't know that it is a proper flu though as have been in to work, as have most of my co-workers. Maybe yours is different.
