Hullo. I'm unbanned. Hope all's well.

I probably won't be around so much in future.

Yes, always have. Always been single, so always done it.

Savings ... top tip: those ISAs you thought you should get? They can lose you more than they've ever been worth :)
But ... you can't cash it out and buy a flash car just to avoid a bill.
I hope you are doing the pension thang I mentioned before.

For some reason my pension has done really well this year - though I am still not sure it is worth more than I have paid into it.....

Good bit of MSE this evening. Our current student visitor was really keen on the idea of visiting the Harry Potter Studios in Watford. Just looked at the prices and it would be 140 odd for the family - luckily they are sold out until 2 weeks after her departure so that counts that one out :)

Instead we will be doing a London bus tour on Tesco vouchers which on day one you can also do a boat trip and various walking tours and you can use the bases for 2 days (saves on getting a travel card for day 2 which will be shopping). Plus last year when we went to Chessington half the rides were shut so they offered us a free entry next time so that is another trip out sorted....Then I think the local museums are free for residents :) Unfortunately the Sky Garden seems to be impossible to book and even with Tesco vouchers the London Eye is 12.50 per head. Anyone any top tips for good (value) London activities suiting kids from 7 to 14?
    I think....

The Science Museum is great for kids. They often hold special events over the summer. Natural History Museum in Tring if looking for something closer to home.

Have learnt not to take French students to Verulamium. It's a bit underwhelming when you have the Pont du Gard on your doorstep.

London Transport Museum, followed by a wander around Covent Garden. Lots of street entertainers to keep them amused.

No. I didn't understand it at the time - and when you started a new thread about it, asking 'experts', they were confusing too and were arguing over if it could be done and at which provider and how. And then, even they never answered the question....

    It was all too much.

Lucky you! But why would you all have to go with her? I'd drop her off and wave as I drove off.

Even though you're doing the London bus tour, can I suggest you make as much of the travel round London on the upper decks of buses, and avoid the underground (which is a bit of a naff way to get around).

    Mind what?

    - being single?
    - having you pretending we were an item at some past point?
    - having you stalking me?

    Blimey.

Don't forget, the CT banding is set by the assessed value in 1991 (2003 for Wales), even new builds are assessed on the equivalent value had they been built then.

The fact that prices have rocketed in many areas since then isn't taken into account.
