I've got another 3 pounds of raspberries now, and another 3/4 pound of strawberries
Guess what I''ll be doing later
Right, that's another litre (the cliptop jars I bought yesterday are sized in litres) of raspberry jam made, plus just under half a litre of strawberry.
That's quite enough domesticity for one day so it's time to revert to "bloke mode". The British Grand Prix is on soon so it's time to nuke a pie, fry some chips and park in front of the telly for the afternoon :rotfl:0 -
Enjoy chris-m.
Hey Pastures, you could go out and splash in puddles too, haha.
Sunny here now, so as soon as I've finished my early lunch, I'm going to walk LittleyDog and then spend the afternoon gardening.Spend less now, work less later.0 -

So what are we all up to, and has anyone got any sunshine?!
Daughter has just mentioned swimming, pray for me, Sunday at the swimming pool is my idea of hell!
Ours are a bit bigger than toddlers now but I was thinking if they were perhaps on youtube you could find 'workouts you could do with your kids' assuming it wouldn't disturb your OH too much.I think....0 -
Welcome to the thread tiredoflife
I was going to suggest jumping in puddles too
I remember going to an outdoor swimming pool in the rain as a child - after all, I was going to be wet anyway, so what was the problem?
Though I'm not sure my mother, huddled in a deckchair in a raincoat* with her umbrella up, agreed with me....
Well done on the jam-making, Chris :T
OH is watching TV, mainly the Grand Prix but occasionally having a look to see how the Tour de France is getting on
*ETA It was my mother who was in a raincoat, not the deckchair....0 -

What! No Wimbledon final?
No, neither of us is a particular fan of tennis!
One of my colleagues used to religiously book Wimbledon Fortnight as annual leave every year, keeping a look out for the first appearance of the leave sheet to make sure she got first dibs. As you can imagine, she wasn't hugely popular with other people in the same team who wanted the same two weeks for a family holiday (or indeed to watch Wimbledon themselves for a change.)
But it's quite hard to reason with someone who says firmly that they always have that fortnight off, and anyway they've bought tickets for some of the matches, and simply refuses to negotiate.0 -
We've been watching the TdF here too. The weather at the end was terrible. Made the start at Silverstone seem like picnic weather by comparison.
Not really into tennis either. Will watch the European athletics champs this evening as the next sporting fix and prelude to European Cup Final. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Looks like it's been a good Brit sports day - Hamilton and Murray winning whilst Froomie stays in the yellow jersey.
Unusual - the BBC's describing Murray as a Scot, they usually refer to him as a Briton or British until he's lost at which point they switch to calling him a Scot0 -
She was offered a new job yesterday which includes a training package for CIPD.
Brilliant; quite a lot of HR jobs require the CIPD qualification, but you need the experience / to be in the role in order to get the qualification. Very chicken and egg, so for them to sponsor her through CIPD is great. I got a Level 3 (A Level equivalent) Certificate with them last year.Well, various recipes for raspberry jam reckoned that no added pectin is needed, and my local Tesco doesn't stock it anyway. Just in case, I did buy some "jam sugar" but have tried it for the first go as per one recipe on the hob using 500g raspberries, 500g ordinary granulated sugar and a tablespoon of lemon juice, plus a small amount of butter to reduce foaming.
It does depend on the size of the supermarket, but you can often get liquid pectin called Certo, if memory serves right.
What a superb Wimbledon - 4 British winners with the mixed doubles and the wheelchair results!! And Lewis Hamilton, and the TdF! :j0 -
I love Le Tour and have almost got to grips wth how it's scored and what the different coloured jerseys represent. Can't stand tennis.0
