I always find the hardest part is deciding whether to open the jar labelled Dolmio or the one labelled Ragu....
    I think....

Chop 1 onion, 1 carrot, 1 celery stick, 1 clove garlic and a tin of tomatoes then add about 10 teaspoons of sugar plus a bunch of crap to make Dolmio.

To make my sauce you just add the ingredients up to the word 'then'.

Take your pick. I found cancer quite inconvenient. OTOH the in-Laws seem really to like diabetes as they keep eating those stir-in sauces and drinking soft drink.

You pays yer money and takes yer choice I guess :)

The issue can be that you can buy a jar of Dolmio at about 69p and shove it in the cupboard.... if/when you want to use it 6-9 months later, there it is....

Compared to having to have bought/got an onion, a carrot, one celery stick and a clove of garlic ... and facing chopping them, then doing a bit of washing up, etc.

    :)

I would state though, I've never done either of those. So far, if I fancy a spag bol I'll get a 70-80p ready meal from a supermarket and nuke it :) I probably eat one a year.

If you were to consider it though, would you do it tomorrow?

My mum used to make her own sauce for spag bol until about a year ago, she now finds it easier and quicker to just get a jar because of the amount of work she has now with dad.

I'm doing home made toad in the hole tonight with proper sausages from the butchers and my own home made batter and onion gravy....no packets will be involved at all although if you speak to my ex mother in law, she tells everyone and anyone the boys only ever get microwave meals and never ever any veg. My microwave stands unused most the time (probably why it is still working at over 25 years old - we got it second hand before youngest was born for a tenner and it was old then!) and we have fresh veg every night.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I use a jar of sauce maybe once a year, and then only if I see one that is ludicrously cheap, almost always disappointed. Much easier to keep some passata and tinned toms in the store cupboard and chopped herbs, garlic, onion etc in the freezer. Just as easy to make and without the E numbers.

I do however have a thing for soft drinks. I never ever drink ones with sugar in, but do worry about things like sucralose.

Sweets are my downfall though. If I did ever get diabetes, it would be from my love of chocolate and sweets. Other than that though I don't add sugar to anything and get through a bag about every 20 years.

I drink almost exclusively water (if I'm not drinking wine ;)) these days, but I do have a soft spot for a fizzy drink and so I buy Cawston Press when I stumble across them. It's fruit juice and sparkling water.

I think that's as healthy as you can get for a can of pop.

Waitrose - and they've got an "offer price" on. :)
    £3.31 for 6 cans instead of £4.99.

I've never seen those before but will look out for the cucumber and mint ones now that they are on my radar. I'll pretend I'm drinking Pimms:o
