    Hasn't it rained enough, then?
    ;)

Well that was kinda the problem. Because of all the rain I had to let some water out of the pool because it was pretty much topped up and I was worried that it would overflow into our garage which is at a lower level than the top of the pool. To do this you set the filter to the 'Waste' setting which sends the water from the pool down the drain rather than putting the water you suck out of the pool.

Of course, that meant that when I turned the filter on today the pump just sent all the water down the drain rather than cycling it back into the pool.

Ah right - I thought the "accidentally" and "oops" were meant to be the sarcastic versions, not the "I've done something silly" ones :rotfl:

No, I've actually just poured about 1/6th of my swimming pool down the drain. That's $22 (£11) worth of water I just chucked away.

What is annoying was to wake up this morning to find that, after all my work on the veggie patch and after three months without any sign of it, a blasted mole has been at work - but not under the side lawn as before.

Oh no, the little s*d has shoved a load of the sandy subsoil up through and over the nice tidy layer of compost that I left over the veggie patch when I'd finished yesterday

My apologies to Mr Mole - something has been digging from above, not below.
Probably a cat, so I've just scraped the compost back over. I'm not investigating further :rotfl:

    Phew ;)

I'm somewhat further now - if I choose to go back to heritage railway volunteering it'll have to be the Lakeside & Haverthwaite or Ravenglass & Eskdale now. Ropley's a tad far to go ;)
I drove a narrow gauge steam train once! :)

I just accidentally let about 10,000 litres (21,000 pints for PN) of water out of my pool. Oops.
Now, if Pastures were awake, :D, and didn't know you better, I reckon there'd be a whacking great Posh Alert about to drop from a great height! :rotfl:

Well, to be fair, Chris, you were stomping about for ages all over the top of his home, sticking forks and spades into his roof and probably damaging part of his tunnel system! :D
He probably woke up last night and thought, "What s0dding human has been caving-in my lovingly created labyrinth? There's been no sign of him here until just after I completed the last tunnel, and just as I finished it, this happens!"

I've got a lovely old print of a watercolour by Archibald Thorburn of a mole staring down at me from my wall as we speak! :D

Edit. Crossed post Chris.......just read your post above, exonerating said Mole! :D

    Don't quote, will delete.

If there's one thing that's worse than never being invited anywhere ... it's BEING invited somewhere... because, invariably, there'll be problems with that.

Just agreed to go out later in the week for a pub meal .... at a pub I dislike, with another invitee being somebody who really p155es me off :)

    But, hey, it's "out" ... :(

Just checked the menu... cheeseburger £9. I could have THREE of those at a car boot sale for that price!!! :)

Oh dear PN, I bet you're kicking yourself :(

As for KES, I'm guessing it's a school that's now independent but used to be a state grammar school until Hants did away with the 11+ system? *

    * Oops, should have read all the way to the end of the thread before posting. Duh.

I live what might as well be a million miles from the Watercress Line.

The weather was lovely if a bit nippy. 19C and sunny. It's cooling down now though so the heating will be on in a bit. It's 17C at most now I reckon.

I just accidentally let about 10,000 litres (21,000 pints for PN) of water out of my pool. Oops.

That's about £30 worth of water on our tariff. Do you pay more or less the same in oz?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I've only driven a full-size one once - fired them many times.

La'al Ratty (Ravenglass & Eskdale) is narrow gauge, or miniature is probably a better description.

Amazing service from the NHS yesterday. My PSA was up again, so I was referred to the local prostate investigation service, who saw me within a week or so of the referral. I saw a consultant who said I needed an MRI scan and asked if I was free at 3.15. So, I have had the scan and need to wait for a phone call from Fionnuala later this week with the results.

I hated the MRI scan. Very uncomfortable getting heated up by the machine for nearly an hour. Funny that, as other people sail through them.

We pay $2.10 (a quid or so) per kilolitre. There is no choice of provider, you either use Sydney Water or harvest falls from the sky.

The latter choice is a reasonable one. I know a family that drinks untreated rain water. Australia is a lot cleaner than Europe. If you watch the sun set in Europe by the sea you'll notice that the sun never quite disappears beyond the horizon, it disappears before the top of the sun gets to the horizon IYSWIM.

In Aus, even in Sydney, the sun goes through the horizon and sometimes you can even see the green flash that occurs very shortly after sunset.

I've never seen the green flash but the difference in a sunset over the ocean/sea is remarkable.
