We're all going to go of something in the end and who wouldn't want to die being known as The Greatest?
I read a great interview with him once when he talked about what it took to beat better boxers: running the last mile, taking another round of body shots before unleashing (Zaire), risking everything for the goal.0 -

They are creepy because they are full of birds0 -

What's embarrassing about needing time to recover after being knocked off your bike, albeit indirectly, by some inattentive s*d and not knowing if another driver is also going to turn out to be inattentive too?
At least you made it home under your own steam so, hopefully, bike aside, the damage isn't too serious.
Maybe you should have stuck to putting things off until tomorrow0 -
Dodgy hugs to PN.
Do you have arnica in the house? Good for bruising.

Aw PN, so sorry to hear about your accident.
A warm shower or bath before bed tonight might mean you're less stiff when you wake up tomorrow xx
Maggie So sorry to hear about your DMIL. It sounds as if you'll miss her very much, even if it is "for the best" (((HUGS)))
Generali Very glad to hear you made it to Canberra and back safely! I hope the Generalissimos haven't been left with the idea that the weather's always that bad in Canberra :eek:0 -
In all seriousness PN, did you get his numberplate? It is an offence to leave the scene of an accident without stopping or leaving details. And mad to do it with witnesses.
Hope you aren't too stiff tomorrow. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Oh no! Poor Pastures!
 to the s0d who didn't even stop to see if you were ok!
Hex hex hex !
Yes, did anyone take his reg. number?
Shame that no-one offered to take you home, although I suppose it might have been difficult with the bike in tow.
Is it badly bent?
Such a shame, and you've only just got it!
Just a thought, it might be covered by your household insurance.
Another thought, were there any CCTV cameras where you fell? If so, it might be worth reporting it to the police, as they might be able to track him down and give him a fright.
Actually, it might be worth reporting it anyway, especially if you are going to claim on your insurance. They'll give you a crime number which you can give to the insurance company. Write down everything you remember, colour of car, make if you know it, the exact time.......write it all down before you forget it. Including him looking straight at you in the wing mirror, etc., and anything you can remember about the up-pickers/witnesses, etc.
Also, when the bruises come out, photograph them, and if poss. with a date stamp on the photos, so you can prove when you had the bruises.(I just lurve spiders!)

It's still worth reporting. Even if the police do nothing (which is a distinct possibility), you can't just drive around knocking people off their bicycles and then drive off.
I'm sure it wasn't on purpose, but the fact he didn't stop is really appalling.
ETA: The cynic in me thinks either a) been out for a meal with a drink at lunchtime and doesn't want to be breathalysed or b) can't be having any more points on licence.
Im really angry that this has happened to you. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? !!!!!! happens.... I lived.
It's not a question of claiming, Pastures, it's a question of
A) Not letting him get away with causing a RTA and not stopping andyou and your property have been damaged by his irresponsible actions.
I'm all for letting pure accidents be just that, accidents, but he was a negligent driver and his irresponsible actions have injured you........bruises, shock, and the 'blur' are all injuries.
If he had stopped, got out to see if you were all right, been genuinely worried and contrite about what had happened, and had driven you and the bike home, I would agree that you could let it rest there.
But he didn't do any of those things. He did it to you, he could do it to someone else and cause a worse injury.
And you said his wife was in the car! And she didn't tell him to stop! Jeez! I'm speechless!(I just lurve spiders!)

Supposing the car you fell in front of had been as lacking in attention as the one who knocked you off? It doesn't bear thinking about!
Edit. Everything you've said in the post above is fine, except for one thing...........he DIDN'T STOP!
There's no excuse for that!
He could have come back, once the reality sank in, but he didn't.(I just lurve spiders!)
