I've just thrown out my old worn out slippers and am now wearing my new fluffy (inside) slippers.
Goes well with the new thread!0 -
Just thought - nikkster, did you book that holiday? I can't remember whether you said you had or not
Bother, I forgot about the ISS, but I think it's been cloudy here all evening anyway.
Hello! No I didn'tGot a voicemail the next day to day the late booking team's computer said 'no'
Oh well. Now need to decide whether I try for latest this year or March/ April next year (which seems like it's recommended as the best time of year).
On the upside I've decided I need a separate pot of money for fun things like holidays. Especially if I'm going to start saving for big house works.0 -
Had my appointment this evening (your time). Got the all clear although it turns out that the inside of my mouth has been damaged permanently by the radiotherapy.
That could be much worse. 2016 continues to be awesome.0 -

Good news!
How 'damaged'? Physically/disfigured, or does it mean you can't taste pies so well?0 -

But you're here, and that's the main thing!
I'm not as healthy as I was 3 years ago, but still good enough to do everything I want, and I'm extremely grateful to the man upstairs for that :A💙💛 💔0 -

I get ulcers and when I get a sore throat the side of my tongue really hurts. I mean a lot.
I'm really glad for the outcome and I appreciate how lucky I am. Just spending 20 minutes in the waiting room for the radiotherapist reminds me of that: I let everyone in the queue in front of me when I'm done because a lot of people there are really very sick and mine is just a little whinge by comparison.
However the pain in my ear and neck (and sometimes my tongue) is a constant reminder of what happened and also just isn't very nice.
I count my blessings, I really do, but the negatives also impact on my life and it seems reasonable for me to recognise that fact.0 -

A good news consultation.
Pain is awful, just because you have pain arising from life saving treatment does not make it less awful.
Realism is good so long as it does not squish optimism and hope. Positive attitude rocks.0 -

We looked at Cuba for a holiday in June as that would be 12 months since my heart attack and I may get worldwide travel insurance then (can ony get europe now), Thought of 3 days in Havana and a week in Varadero. Not as adventurous as a tour but I am a bit fragile for a lot of travelling. We went back to the drawing board as June is the start of the hurricane season and OH's plane problem had no obvious treatment plan on the horizon to make going earlier possible
We want to do things whilst I am well, my health has limited us a lot in terms of long haul travel. Make sure you do set aside a seperate pot to have fun alongside building your home. You will probably have better memories of blue skies, treks, wide beaches and tall mountains , than of stainless electrical sockets, farrow and ball paints or any other decorating trend.0 -

Pleased that your result was good. Gen that's great news! Sorry to hear about the pain though, are there any barrier methods that you can use to stop mouth ulcers from forming? ETA: cross posted with silver. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
