As a kid, it looked very futuristic, like something out of the Jetsons, with leading edge architecture including a dome. My family there find it quite sterile and provincial (that's the Melbourne ones, not the Qld ones).
It is definitely on my to do list. Last time we were there it didn't make it onto the to do list as we went to the Blue Mountains instead, but do hope to get there next time.
I'd love to visit a futuristic city. When I was a kid someone sent me a 3-d postcard from Brasilia. Not the ones that needed special glasses or were red/green but had a weird thick texture so when you changed the angle of looking it the image changed as if you were changing perspective. If anybody remembers those? There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Sorry to here this. Anything you can do? Cancel credit cards? Claim back from bank?
Cousin's parent got scammed into buying coloured diamonds. Proved a nightmare but months later they got some of the money back.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Thanks silver. Mum saw an advert for a pamphlet/book for £1. She ordered it using her credit card. They've used the details to send her tablets from America. Fortunately, when I showed her how to go online, she got a pre-paid credit card. She's going into the bank to speak to them, as they've somehow managed to run up an overdraft on a prepaid card. Bank will sort out, but arrrrrrgggggggghhhhhh. Fortunately she only had £200 on it. Not a small amount, but not thousands. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? That's not good Viva
Hope it gets sorted!
I will of course delete if you request💙💛 💔0 -
If it's any consolation viva, I've known a couple of incidents like this and they've been resolved by a couple of phone calls.
We made it through the night you'll be glad to hear although I have something strange to report. There's no sun in the sky and it's all a weird grey colour with drops of water falling everywhere. Bizarre. We did have both the Generalissimos in the bed in the end last night. Both woke up cold and snuggled in with us driving Mrs Generali into the spare bedroom.0 -

That was freaky. The ground is now all wet and it's freezing, 16C or something.
I've Googled this umbrella thing you mentioned and it looks pretty neat, like a portable sunshade or something. I've ordered a couple to keep with the little stash of tinned food and bottled water I save for just in case the worst happens. I don't want to be taking any risks with this stuff. If water can fall out of the sky and blot out the sun, who knows what happens next. Falling ice? Rocks? Killer zombies?
I found a really interesting article (to me) on Pope numbering(!). Apparently there is such a thing as an 'antipope', someone who claims to be the Pope but isn't recognised by the Roman Catholic Church. From a bit of Googling around it seems that these antipopes by tradition call themselves Pope Peter II (St Peter being Peter I).
It seems that keeping paper records intact from 33AD (Pope/St Peter) to 2016 is hard, especially as paper wasn't used for most of that period! So there was no Pope John XX as they messed up the counting and two Pope John XXIIIs as they declared the first one to be an antipope about 500 years after his death!
The other great word I found from the article is a 'pornocracy', which means rule by prostitutes. Wikipedia has a bit on it:

Oh and Pope Joan is a myth apparently and sadly.0 -
For those who say students do BTEC for a doss, an easy life, maybe they should see what youngest submitted yesterday....a two inch thick folder of mainly typed essays/tasks for just one unit. Thousands upon thousands of words and because he is a bit of a perfectionist, typed out, modified/or scrapped and typed out again.
He's worked blooming hard this year, I see and hear of people saying that the BTEC students have it easy, that it is for the thick ones, that they only have to do a little bit of writing etc but the sheer amount and quality of stuff he has produced has been amazing. Night after night tapping away on his keyboard for hours on end, hardly been a doss.
He's enjoyed it though and because he is in the right surroundings, his shutters are now wide open and the information is pouring out at a faster rate than anyone else can keep up with including me! Gone are the frustrating days of knowing that he knows stuff but it is locked behind the shutters never to see the light of day (or a piece of paper/exam sheet), it's a veritable flood of output now.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

DW and I will probably go shopping tomorrow in Win-Dom. But, it depends on the traffic, and we might go via Swaffham, instead.
With the bank hols traffic, a journey that normally takes 2.5 hours actually took 4. We went via Swaffham, pronounced Swaaaarrfem. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
