My parents ahve always used apple stuff, I have made do with PCs and thousands of pounds more in my pocket to spend on stuff that matters and none of the horror stories of phones, talets etc stopping working after OS updates that mac devices seem to suffer.

    Haven't spent thousands of pounds!

In 23years I've only had a Performa, an iMac (orange) and this iPad Air!

Haven't had any of those problems you describe, either! :D

There are free ones you can use on a one-off basis.

Yeah but you need to download software to use them. A free VPN where you have to download software of uncertain provenance, what could possibly go wrong?

Jeanette Winterson is in Sydney and was interviewed by the ABC's Sydney radio station and this is the result:

I can't think of a funnier interview off the top of my head since the Frog and Peach interview.

Yep, its genuine. I've done some checking and its in a lot of the PC magazines as something that they are doing. Mine must just be in this current batch.

Here are some articles so you know what to watch out for. I'm interested to know who else it has happened to and what they think of it.

Yeah I had that the other day, managed to cancel it. I've got Win 8.1 on laptop and don't want to change to Win10 as it isn't touch sensitive screen. Weird Aldi Desktop downstairs does have touch sensitive screen, so I might give it a go on that if I ever manage to stay downstairs long enough to use it again. ;)

Opera is in the process of bringing out VPN as part of its browser. It's currently available to browse as a US user. They are looking to roll out. It is in beta testing currently.

It looks to be a reaction to the US and other govts telling them to hand over data, wouldn't surprise me if more browsers developed a built in VPN. Though already some sites are pushing back, you can't log on if you aren't from the UK becomes you can't log on if we don't know who you are.

Win 10?? I'm still on XP Home.
    :)

I can trump that - I still have a machine in regular use running Windows 2000 and I think I still have a laptop on Windows 98 :rotfl:

I did upgrade my tablet to Win 10 - but only because it came with Win 8 pre-installed so I thought I might as well upgrade as I would have to learn a new OS in any case.

I know what you mean, feel much the same way myself.

Have been using Overplay for nearly a year now, its been a good service so far, only using the smart DNS product, don't need full VPN, subscription based but you can usually get offers on it if you look around for codes as well

Most of the equivalent providers seem to be similarly priced anyway, but might be best to see if you can find one somewhere with a free trial to see if it does everything you need before you take the plunge with it.

I try to see the funny side of life...my husband is a real joker and finds almost everything amusing...sometimes you get a jolt and not sure how to handle a situation like I received a letter from my oldest Sons solicitor stating he has applied for enduring power of attorney for my mother although its about financial and property affairs its states that my son believes that my mother is no longer able to make decisions herself which I know is a different issue really...she changed here wil recently leaving here estate to just him!!!:eek so there is a huge disruption in the family once again but although I said I would take the issue to court when the time comes I have since decided I wish to live my life in a calm way without all the drama of a fight and have just disconnected with two members of my family...much easier honest. Any opinions and views are really welcome from this nice peoples thread;)bw Dianne
