Voted for a Mayor and London Assembly members before going to work this morning. Not exactly mobbed, but our local polling station tends to get crowded close to the closing time. Although come to think of it, more people will just end up down the pub on a nice day like this and give the polling booth the body-swerve tonight. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0

If you go to this link, and put in your postcode, it will tell you who your candidates are.
Then you click on a button to download a PDF with all their statements on it.
There's still plenty of time!

I cast my vote earlier. It's only PCC voting here.
Thank you!
I got annoyed already
Quote:
PCCs are required to swear an oath of impartiality when they are elected to of ce. The oath is designed so that PCCs can set out publicly their commitment to tackling their role with integrity. It re ects the commitment police of cers make to serve every member of the public impartially and makes clear that they are there to serve the people, not a political party or any one section of their electorate.
-So why are we voting for someone with a political party next to their name? Shouldn't this just be a case of someone capable picking the best person for the job?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

To be honest, reading their statements doesn't really help. They're written in "insider language" and trying to "impress" with credentials that mean nothing to Joe on the street.
So, I've read, not understood a word, don't have a clue really what they do, what it all means, how to choose.
So, I've now two choices ..... shut my eyes and pick one randomly, or, remain seated on the sofa.
I say mix it up! Who knows what weird and wonderful things could happen to/from the polling station.
I have a pub halfway.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

You heavily over-rate most of the population. Most people that voted today, especially the ones that had local elections, won't have even gone as far as reading the lovely link provided to us by our fellow NP.
They'll have blindly wandered in and voted the way they voted in the locals, which is usually the way they vote in the general election.
I feel quite passionately that very local politics shouldn't be party political, but based on passion for the unique local issues that areas face.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
