We had a problem with a flappy letter box. Fixed it with this little gizmo. When I say fixed it, I managed to fit it myself, proof that it is easy to fit.

Perhaps you just need something so when it flaps down it doesn't make a noise?

Would a long rubber band that goes lengthwise round the flap do it?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I wouldn't glue stuff onto my door, either the glue will fail after a period or the plastic will break or discolour and you won't be able to get it off.....
    I think....

I thought that when I saw it. Maybe bath sealant would be better as it peels off.

Pastures, would a bit of draught excluder on the bit that's clanking do the trick? It comes with a sticky tape backing as a rule.

The issue isn't just the clanking, it's that the wind lifts up the flap so it's entirely open. I thought a magnetic strip is going to be the only way to fix it. You can get thin strips of that.

A magnet will keep it closed and enable the postie to open the slot and not be confused that it's broken/not to be used.

My letterbox doesn't do that. It has a strong front and back flap, where the bid disadvantage is it catching the post inside, making it possible (I'd have thought) for someone to take it out. No windows in the bottom though, so I don't know if they'd realise there is something inside anyway.

Lost, as usual .... what would people risk losing by taking up a job commanding (cabin crew?) on an A320?

This isn't the door letterbox, it's a post box screwed to the wall outside of the gate. As the gate is problematical and troublesome, I stuck the box there to give the postie options when he can't gain access to the front door.

Ah ok, can't help then, sorry :(
