I'm with PN on this ....:D
Well done on the sleuthing PN btw0 -
Shocking news re the culture secretary. Ending a relationship with someone just because the job they do might cause embarrassment to your political career
I'd have finished a relationship if I found out that my chap was a dominatrix. Each to his own, I'd just not wish to consider building a life/future with somebody so free with his woggle.
When it comes to relationships beyond the first 1-2 dates, it has to come down to "could I really introduce this person to my family/my mother .... or are they just plain embarrassing?"0 -
... big breach of confidentiality?
HUGE. Yes. Massive. No doubt. Completely.
Unless you've some new-fangled account/s that allow something in the small print and therefore treated you in some way as "one unit". I know some people have the type of accounts that are alien to me, so I've no idea what's out there.
Sharing an email on an account seems unusual .... so you have to look at the wording/disclosure of information that's in their generic email. They didn't have to word it with specifics at all. They could have left it bland.
They might argue that as you're married, if they'd written to him, you'd have opened that too and known anyway.0 -
If you want to do the right thing you should start with a complaint to the bank saying that you plan to take it to the Data Protection people.
Depends on your view of "the right thing". For me, doing the right thing would be emailing/speaking to the advisor involved and letting them know they've cocked up with a word of warning that although it hasn't caused any issues on this occasion they MUST be more careful in future or face the consequences. Surely you wouldn't want someone to lose their job over a simple admin error.0 -

No I wouldn't and having worked in finance for 20 years I can't think of an admin error that would result in this email being sent.
If it's an automated email then the bank needs to know soonest that their systems are seriously badly written. If it's an individual sending this then he needs to understand that he is breaking the law and could spend years in prison if, for example, he tips off a money launderer indirectly about their actions.
It's not for me to tell him/her that. It's for the bank to resolve this. If she/he's a normal employee he/she won't lose their job.0 -

I have to laugh at that Pastures!
On a serious note though, it does seem to be serious in terms of the breach, and even if Silver was aware of the figures to start with, should never have been passed on without permission.💙💛 💔0 -
This morning I took my driving "appraisal" with the regional chief examiner , no less.
You do not get a pass or fail, but a mark A-D,ranging through meets the standard, few minor lapses, more serious, Dangerous. It was like the practical driving test.
I got an A:j:j:j
I still have to await a decision from DVLA on whether I can have a full driving licence (restricted for adaptions). Could take another month. Fingers crossed.0 -
Congratulations - is your driving now better than it was before?!I think....0

Standard sort of accounts. Email to his email address, cc'd to mine. The email starts off as generic stuff then says, "using your balance of XX as an example..."
I accept that if they'd written it would be a letter to the house that anyone could have opened, but then it would have been my breach in opening a letter addressed to him.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I've just emailed the bank advisor and thanked her for giving me the information on his account and that I've therefore just ordered a new handbag!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
