In the midst of our concerns for others, lets not forget the 62 dead and the 59 injured in the Portugal fire that is still spreading.

    A bad time indeed.

    Yes.

I've just had lunch in a Portuguese cafe, and it was on the TV in there.

It was 62 confirmed dead when we left, with the death toll expected to rise.

Grenfell Tower. Still gives me nightmares, but explain this:

They reckon 500+ lived in the block, 100 escaped, they expect the sad death toll to be less than 100, so where is everyone else? The fire took hold at 1am, so most people should have been home.

I haven't heard about the Portuguese fire....... I was out for a long time today, and all day yesterday. I will google it.

It's been hot today. OH power washed the decking where there was algae growing on it that made it slippery in the wet last time we were here. So safer when Grandkids here next week. I slept a lot. Gorgeous evening.

    Tower block victims

It is going to get messy as the official tenant list may well bear little resemblance as to who was actually living there
    I think....

You did well, much too hot to sleep here at night let alone in the day.

We have a light/ceiling fan combo above the dining table in the kitchen. The fan stopped working a year ago, today we got round to buying and fitting a replacement. (No doubt it might well have been a relatively easy fix but life is too short.)

Woke up at 3am, too hot to sleep, so turned on the TV.

    More bad news. :(:(:(

Great grandma's/grandpa's great grand-daughter - isn't that some sort of cousin? Umpteen times removed, probably.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    2nd cousins, 0 removal.

    The parties' parents were cousins.
    The parties' grandparents were siblings.
The parties' great-grandparents are who they have in common.

I must admit, I'd always thought that the terms second cousin and first cousin once removed applied to the same pair of people, but from the different perspective of each of them.
