I am not on drugs I promise. But on The Last Leg I just saw Michael Give and Ed Balls doing Gangnam Style in a lift. V funny. In aid of Jo Cox reconciliation charity. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Thank you, thanks all xx I didn't intend to lower the mood! Things like this also make you realise that life goes on whatever and that you need to embrace it with both hands.
I actually went to see the Last Leg being filmed the week this all happened. It was pre-arranged with a friend but very welcome light relief.0 -

So, so sorry for your friend. An absolute nightmare. And so hard for you, too.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I'm sorry, I should have bit my tongue better. Though I do stand by my sentiments I'm afraid michaels. No need for you to remove anything but I do feel there is much more of a choice to your situation than many others.
Your friend is very licky to have someone like you to turn to.I think....0 -
Good to see you back Nikkster.
Sorry to hear your news.
I've been to one of your fave places a few times recently.
Hope you're OK.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
WE are very much the left behind with a household PAYE income of only 13k although obviously topped up by tax credits in a house worth 60 times as much but you get things like the 'spontaneous' leavers party for year 6, in previous years it has been bring a bottle and some food to the school and share - this year posh mummy offered to book the new trampoline park at £12 per head leaving us the choice of paying up or DD2 feeling left out. For those on the 100k plus salaries I suspect £12 is what they drop on coffees and snacks in a day without thinking about it rather than a normal days family food expenditure.
For a year 6 end of year trampoline party, I don't think £12 is too out of bounds and actually quite good value for money, I had to pay a fair whack for James' year 6 end of year disco and provide a plate of food and that was quite a few years ago now..and my means were far from plentiful.
I operated the value for money and what they could get out of it school of thought for things and if I thought it was an important milestone/event/educational opportunity etc, then I found the money somewhere and marking the end of a child's primary school years is just one of those events...if you had said anymore than say £20, then that would have required a lot more thought.
The boys got the important things and went to the important events, it just took a little juggling even if it meant I went without to allow them to do so...I never begrudged others who had the ability to afford those things without worrying, the cards just fell better for them/they made more of themselves. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Nikk, don't feel that you can't speak about something if it's bothering you. I personally have no problem with the way the affairs in question are conducted as it's legal, however can understand why others might.
Not having a go at the poster concerned in saying that either, as I feel it's his own business to decide how his affairs are conducted as long as there is no rule breaking going on.Please don't quote, will delete:

Between that and all the other terrible news recently...
Sorry to hear about that, and I completely agree that the last few weeks have been awful to everyone.
We can only hope for better times, and hopefully for everyone they will come soon. Also apologies for the poor typing in my previous post. Flipping phone.
Hence the need for part of my sig. Touchscreens are great as long as you don't need to touch them, and completely useless otherwise
I'm on the laptop this morning but sorry if my spelling is off, as I've had a crap night sleep hence the posting at about 3am while waiting for some tea to have the desired effect.💙💛 💔0 -
This has been an issue for a while. There is a real separation and I'm not sure how to bridge the gap without upsetting someone. Parents are getting really good at making excuses as to why they cannot attend, because they are away etc.
The damage to others without understanding, or even being aware that not everyone is within the same income bracket is what is make us a 2 tier nation. It used to be possible to tell based on the car and which supermarket you went to and what street you live in.
Now, there is no clear line, so the assumption is that everyone is a 'have', rather than a 'I haven't got as much as you'.
Actually, all it requires is some thought and consideration before making the assumption that all can afford what you can.
We have a long way to go.
My sister in law thinks I am a have and they are a have not because I am able to pay my bills. What she doesn't see is the meals of cereal (for myself) some nights to free up the pennies to do so, the going without buying new clothes, the no going out, cooking from scratch, meal planning etc. and she forgets I also have two at university whom I am supporting financially. I live on the debt free and mortgage free boards collating all the information and tips and putting it into action to spread the pennies more.
They actually get more than me...but waste a hell of a lot more than me on stupid stuff but still she thinks of me as the 'rich one'.We made it! I know where you are coming from. We have assets because we live frugally, we can afford our bills because I put in the hours shopping round for everything. Some relatives with much higher disposable incomes but without the assets because they always spend what they earn and with the debts because they never think about what things cost then expect us to pay for them because 'we are the rich ones'.
<NP Off>Sometimes I think this is also the difference between those who support different political parties, they see those who appear to have more and ignore the fact that that is because they have spent less and insist on 'redistribution' </NP Off>I think....0
