The lock/knob you describe is exactly what I've got.

It was 16 years ago, though, so I can't for the life of me remember where I got them.
The knob thing, which is a metal ring, is made of that galvanised stuff. Next time I unlock it, I'll look and see what make the lock itself is.

(Because it's so stiff with the misalignment, I can't just go and unlock it now, as I might not be able to re-lock it myself!)

It's a mortice lock, set into the wood of the gate, so it might be difficult to fit yourself.

    .... misalignment...
That's one of the problems I've got. Two gates, both are out top and bottom by about 2" .... it's a b4st4rd! First it gets soaked by the rain ... then huge winds bend it out of position ... and that's how it's stuck.

I should be googling for a 6' high prickly bush and remove one 3m chunk of the fence and also buy/fit an entirely new/different gate (metal/more durable) .... but I'm worried I'd simply not like the look of the prices :)

Wood's just rubbish .... as fencing and as gates.

James has got through to round 3 in one of his graduate scheme applications....this is for a major software company that if successful, would see him in America this time next year.

So far, he is one of 3 put through the next round.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Oh well done! That's marvellous news!
    America! Gosh!

I prefer it, because you can screw things into it, chisel bits off it and bang nails into it.

Also, wood can be fantastic as fencing provided you get the right sort.
I had strong feather-boarded fence erected on my side, with concrete posts.
It cost more than larchlap, which breaks when you so much as touch it with a little finger. However, in all the years I've had it, my neighbour's fence on the other side has had to be repaired/replaced three times, because she has cheap larchlap panels and wooden posts, which rot at the bottom and aren't as strong in the wind as featherboarded.
She's probably spent as much as I did originally, and has had all the hassle.

Seems a very false economy to me. Besides which, my fence looks very neat and tidy, whereas hers looks a bit shambolic, and I have to look at it! :D

Wanted to put my bin out, but there's fiddling with bins again.
I can wait .... annoying for those being fiddled with though if they fiddle too much.

Are parents concerned who their kids are communicating with online? Just seen the one that's always glued to her phone doing a full body scan with body/boobie jiggle to her phone ..... and I think "that's just too weird!". She's about 10-11.

The wallpaper could be covered with a couple of coats of emulsion. Not much more to do, really.

    Bet it gets knocked down.

I agree with michaels, my way prices have gone nutty. There was a 2 bed tiny flat that a friend bought 2 years ago for 270k, similar one now on the market for 370k.

But there are an abundance of new flats for sale that are now priced more than 3 bed terraced older houses. Give it a couple of years until the help-to-buy loan needs refinancing or relationships break up and the market will be flooded.
