FWIW, I'm in agreement with not having term time holidays either, for all the reasons PN outlined. All this they get so much out of the culture, its a learning experience, so is being at school.

I don't cook at all, my entire diet is based on how do I eat as healthy as possible without cooking, so I do eat a lot of fruit and veg. Then ruin it with chocolate.....

I agree and sort of don't agree.

We never did the holidays abroad, ours have always been cheap holidays in this country, so it was never to do with sitting by a pool in Ibiza with a cheap glass of booze.

With two of the boys, a school holiday break meant people, lots of them and they just couldn't cope with it which made a holiday a stress out rather than an enjoyable time. However, when James reached high school, I realised how harmful it would be to his education if I continued taking them out of school for our annual break (in a borrowed static caravan in this country) and started to go against what was written in Joe's statement. until finally, we were taking our holiday wholly in the summer holdays.

It was lovely last year though to go back to the first two weeks in July (Joe finished college the day before), no more horrendous queues or noise on the caravan site, easier to get parked, more relaxed, less bitey bugs and cheaper.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Working Tax Credits would be more likely, considering the subject under discussion.

BTW, it's World Trade Center - whilst I normally hate Yank mis-spelling I will accept it when it's the actual name of something over there :p

I'd rather have not qualified for it, the boys hated being classed as a free school mealer, as being marked out as 'poor' and somehow inferior to their classmates because of it.
I wish we could get it as school meals cost a fortune but if I worked fewer than 24 hours to get it we lose more in wtc than we gain in free school meals. I can't understand why you can be extremely low income and not get it but earn more and work fewer hours and get it...
    I think....

Re missing school....I was off sick the day my class was taught the French alphabet and i never did get the hang of it! Luckily we were only rarely expected to spell words out loud in French.

Exactly and this is why the current law with head teacher making the decision is ideal.

We never took ours out of school for holidays, we even suffered when they were at school in different boroughs and had different holidays.
