I've had a stomach in knots kind of day...

Eldest travelling to Croatia, middle son travelling back to university. Both have now made it safely to their destinations, now all I have to do is drive to the cattery, drop the cat off and get ready for our 3 day trip to Lincoln.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Ooh Sue! I was thinking of you earlier today and wondering where you were!

    Reef or clove hitch?

Everyone's off to Croatia; Pompey Pete is there at the mo, your eldest had just gone, and I'm off there in a few weeks! :)
I got my Kuna the other day. I like to be well prepared. Too many times when I haven't felt well in the couple of weeks running up to going away, so haven't been able to do stuff like that, then it's a horrible rush at the last minute!
My suitcase is always half-packed with the 'essentials', so that I only have to think about clothes about a week before.
Have booked the night before at the airport Premier Inn, (it's a very early flight!) and booked the car to take me to the airport!

Talking of going away, it's funny, because I am going to a day workshop oop north in a few weeks as well. So decided to fly up, as otherwise I'd have to book a b&b for 2 nights, plus the journey would be knackering just for one (intensive) day, whether by train or car.

I've booked a place for my car at the airport, the nearest to the terminal in case my injured leg is still hurting to walk, and the cost of the day's car parking is the same as the cost of the return flight! Hahahahahaha!
(Still cheaper than the train with B&Bs, and probably still almost as cheap as the petrol plus wear and tear!)

    Cra-zee!

Glad they got there safely Sue! Have a nice visit to Lincoln. i'm sure youngest will be pleased to be there again.
We were recently there for a weekend, and loved it, though I did comment to OH that it might have been a different story if it had been raining and the cobbles on Steep Hill slippery.... :D

Pyxis Just seen the post about your holiday. Singing holiday or "ordinary" one? :)

Conrad Glad the cooking went ok in the end! The fish looks lovely.

If they don't burn prohibited fuel (i.e. non smokeless coal) then they slip under the radar.

They are burning wood logs, but some wood burners are exempt from the regs.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    Probably both types!

Eldest has gone via his university as he is part of a sports society. It's usually Spain but they thought they would have a bit of a change. Bit of a journey though as it is a coach and boat affair, they left at lunchtime yesterday!

We're doing Lincoln by train as it is, alas, too far for me to drive safely. Looking forward to it but must admit to feeling very weepy right now after dropping the cat off at the cattery (he gets so distressed on the drive but it is the safest option for him plus no company for me tonight in the front room and bedroom) and having a horrendous journey back stuck in a 4 mile tail back.

What are the matzo made of?

Indeed. There are only 4 permitted fuels, of which wood is not one. However, anything that's outdoors and doesn't send smoke up the chimney of any building is except, as are a very very large number of woodburners and similar stoves. The rules are here.

I agree it's very odd. I understand the "outdoors" bit - people generally only burn stuff outdoors occasionally - but all those stoves being exempt seems to defeat the point of having the rules.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
