Anyone know why a Finch would have spent the last week repeatedly flying into my windows?

Maybe your finch is seeing his reflection and attacking himself?
Yes, it's likely that as the sun comes up, the reflection on the glass is of the sky and whatever's outside your bedroom, so the bird thinks it has a clear flight path.
Or it's attacking itself!(I just lurve spiders!)

So I just tested it right now ... to see.

And here it is, test results from right now. 1.87Mb
There's something wrong there. Having an upload speed of half the download speed just isn't how ADSL normally works. Usually the ratio is 10:1 not 2:1.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I had a fault on my line once that gave me a ratio of 1:20 - 100Kbps download and 2Mbps upload !!!!!!!
I suggested that the engineer swap the two wires over so it worked t'other way :rotfl:0 -

There's may be a fault on Pastures' line, or it may just be that her PC is so tired that it can't deal with the data fast enough to use the line's full capacity. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
PasturesNew wrote: »I actually had a conversation with somebody at BT in the first few months of moving here - and they said it'd never get over 2MB. That's the speed for a lot of people.... and some people can't get any Internet at all still/yet!
There might be a faster service (at more money) recently available - but I've not checked as it'd be wasted on this PC.
And in other news .... somebody above is now "just showing off" by posting their speed image! :P
EDIT: I did just check using my postcode - and it seems there might be faster ones that have the word "fibre" in the title, but I'd have to investigate directly with the companies to see if it's actually available at my house/in my street.
We've just changed over to fibre, and for most purposes I don't find it all that much faster. It's also more expensive! No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
PasturesNew wrote: »What you realise when you do this is that you need to have the right screw/nail to fit into the hole you're drilling .... that's tricky. I've got a "small random collection of odd screws/nails bought so I had a small random collection .... " - but you really need to be matching the bit with the nail/screw and job in hand.
I had a wander round the garden with the drill in hand, looking for random bits of wood to drill - and couldn't think of a single purpose.... because, having drilled any hole, I knew I'd not then have the relevant screw/nail to use the hole. So I put the drill away
You could drill a load of holes in a piece of wood and make brush holders for artists!
OR.... more holes of different sizes in other bits of wood to be insect habitats....leave them in your garden to encourage beneficial insects in!
OR..... holes of any ole size and make a piece of unique artwork! Call it "The Hole Truth". Sell it for £100.
Is that fibre?(I just lurve spiders!)
