Add all addresses?

Should everyone tell credit agencies all addresses they have lived at, or not?
Credit agencies seem very keen to ask for previously lived at addresses and that it really helps you if you do. I have been told by an advisor that I should add all addresses as if I do not list the addresses then I can not see all my credit information that the lenders can see. But (and this is where I am unsure) - if they do not have an address (listed or linked) and do not have credit info related to that address then how can they share it with lenders!?!
I logged onto Experian yesterday (first time since 2013) and they have 2 listed addresses and 5 linked (technically 30 links for the 5 addresses), all corrected addresses, all rented. All the addresses are correct (I have listed there) and all rented (I have no mortgages). There are 3 or 4 addresses I have also lived at that are neither listed or linked.. I think only one of there addresses could have credit stuff assocciated with it (for safety reasons I kept my bank info with my parents address and rent was inclusive of bills etc).
I have been reading around addresses listed on credit reports and it seems negative to have too many/moving around too much. I have a good credit report so do not want to add anything negative (unless I do have to for my benefit/clarity).
So - is listing all addresses one has lived at doing yourself a favour (so you can see all credit info potentially behind the addresses) - or are they slyly getting you to do their 'job'?
Thanks!

Interesting opinion. I think you are safer adding all your addresses as if details of you are found at a different address you have not told them about would it not give them a reason to refuse you from credit or at least make them question why you have not added that address.0

I am not sure....
I had an aqua credit card for a year which didn't show up on my experian credit report cos it was registered to a linked address.
When I called experian, they pressured me for previously lived at addresses. I was told by an advisor that I should add all addresses too as if I do not list the addresses then I can not see all my credit information that the lenders can see.
I told her I would think about it and call back as I wasn't comfortable with the amount of pressure she was putting.
Well after thinking about it I called the CC company and changed the address to my listed address.
My credit score on experian shot up by 130 points as a result. People say the points dont really count but pre-address change, Halifax credit card soft search gave me a 2/10 chance of getting one, post-address change it went up to a 9/10 chance.
And yes I applied for and got the credit card.

They are asking for your address to confirm your ID.
If you have given your bank address details then they will have notified the CRAs of an address link.
It makes no difference if they have been rented or mortgaged.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Even if you don't add them they will often still show up. On mine it shows addresses I lived at 10 years ago, not because I added them but because card companies had them as linked addresses.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

Touche. To an organisation you are totally faceless. The better the picture they can build. The more confidence they will have in conducting business with you. Their money so their terms of trade.0
