Good to hear I'm not the only one looking forward to a good car boot :)

I'm still up north this morning, just been for a hotel breakfast (some good some bad bits) but it's inclusive :)

Had a lovely meal out last night at a fusion food restaurant (a bit like a Wagamamas) so I've had my fill of Pad Thai and rice spring rolls :D even better when you're not paying for it....I'm not usually a fan of working away as it can be a little depressing staying in a hotel on your own and dinner in your room so last night was lovely to be staying and having company, especially as it was with the beautiful gf.

All the restaurants seemed to be going all out for valentines last night which felt a little cheesy...I spotted some really happy chatty couples and then some who looked bored....the place we went to was just business as normal which was good for us as we just wanted somewhere to chill out and eat, plus the food was pretty delicious. All in all we spent just £7 which was on the parking so not too shabby!

All the eBay buyers have paid so have sorted myhermws delivery so dropping off tonight- could kick myself as forgot to use the discount code I had found :( I've transferred all the money from Paypal and will overpay it (minus postage) to mortgage once cleared. I will pay the eBay fees from my account as they won't be much hopefully!

Had a few bids so far so 3 items this week will sell already which is great news, and cashback for using an insurance search engine has now confirmed for £2.20 on quidco so I've withdrawn that and the 60p that was waiting so will OP that shortly too!

Not much on surveys since Monday but pinecone credit is showing so have requested withdrawal too...lots of little bits will be hitting the mortgage this month which feels pretty good.

Tilly tidy of 35p completed today too so all pretty positive but mini steps!

Off to start work before driving home at midday! Have a last minute friends surprise birthday meal this evening to go to do that will be some spends (again on eating out!) but I'll drive in and try and get free parking etc to minimise the cost...
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!

I got a tad excited as it's payday and checked my online banking- eBay is showing already so have swept the £26.77 (sales minus postage) to the mortgage just now :D

Checking my banking master spreadsheet we have now made (since 30th September 2016)

    - 59 individual OPs
    - totaling £433.78
    - £86.76 as an average per month (smashing £75/month target)
    - £3.12 average per day
    - average OP value of £7.35.

Pretty pleased with that and think it is rubbing off on the lady (who is good with money without needing to have spreadsheets and apps) and she has said all the eBay money we receive (including her Fitbit etc) should go to the mortgage and try and get it down whilst interest is low... :D

We have someone viewing the flat today so hoping they want to move in and pass all the credit checks etc! Don't want it sat empty too long as it is now...will also mean we can possibly move the council tax money to OP next month :)

  • That's brilliant KK - well past the £75/pm target :)
I hadn't thought of totalling up my OPs but I'm going to copy your idea so I can look at what I've managed to achieve for some motivation.
    Mortgage: Mar 2018 -£300,000 / Jul 2021 -£255,000 / Oct 2024 -£172,835 (1.27% Interest until Feb 2027)
    Joint Savings: Aim £13.5k. Dec 2016 £1,700 / Jul 2021 £36,600 / Oct 2024 £106,450 (£100k in PBs. £5,850 at 4% interest. £600 Regular Saver at 7% Interst)
Car Loan: Oct 2024 -£45,000 (0% APR Interest)
  • What a great start to the mortgage OP's - your mortgage will be gone way way before it is due to be paid off !!!

You should calculate the interest you've saved as well!

Charley- definitely do it, I find as I'm moving only small things it's helping me to stay motivated & positive.

DFOD- do you know how I would do that, do I just use the OP calculator and put in the remaining term of the mortgage?

eBay parcels all posted off and tracking sent to buyers. Bottle recycling all taken to the bottle banks (4 massive bags- I blame the few housewarming we have had!) now chilling before heading out for dinner.

Going to TGIs tonight so had a look at their app and online but can't see any deals at the mo unfortunately :( Grabbed a card out of the presents box (50p ages ago in the Next sale) so all ready to go.

Great progress on the OPs - love following your progress. I am a fellow clutter hater and had the MK book for Christmas. My sock drawers have never looked so tidy :rotfl:

  • I don't, but Shangai Jimmy used to do it so don't know if you've read his diary, but sure it's in there.

    Hope you enjoyed your meal!

Thanks DFOD I've read his diary early last year and read regular entries since- I'll take a good old read through and see if I can find it :)

Meal was fab: birthday boys wife got him onto a birthday deal so five people in the party could have free cocktails or desserts with their main...I was going to have a dessert but they had brought cake so had a free mocktail so only £13.99 spent :) Im still full this morning!

Went to a bar after and I bought a round in so £16 spent there (expensive Diet Coke!) but that was it- I parked a little way away to get free parking so the damage wasn't too bad but I had a great night and met lots of new folks! :)

Lady gets home tonight and I'm looking forward to having her home, I've got very used to her being in the house with me so it's very quiet on my own (lovely some days, - bit strange others).

Busy day at work planned today so packed my breakfast, lunch (veg soup from freezer of course!) and coffee Supplies to keep me on the straight and narrow....

I'm happy to send you a copy of my OP spreadsheet - it tells you the interest saved, among many other things (I can't take any credit for it though - found it online and DH has added a few bits!). Let me know if you'd like it.
