EEEEEeeeesh, we’re waiting nervously now. The solicitors confirmed 30 minutes ago they had the funds and just need the two parties to agree the stock value so they can document that, then the solicitors need to agree completion and let us all know!

The post office are here and doing the transfer, they are ready to hit go as soon as the solicitors confirm.

It was a late night last night doing the stock take (10pm) and up at the shop again at 6am to finish it before we had to work; however the docs are all signed, the stock value is with the solicitor so fingers crossed its now just a formality and the in-laws can finally retire.

After 42 year running their shop i think they wont quite know what to do with themselves tomorrow!!

Keep everything crossed please everyone! :)

It’s done!!!! THe solicitors have called and confirmed that they have exchanged & completed! THe money is being sent to them later today once the solicitor has removed their fees!

They can retire! Ive been and got them a bottle of Tattinger (& a bottle of non-alcohol sparkle too), some flowers and a card for when they come home later today <3

They are still at the shop as still doing the Post Office transfer/ handover part now, but such a relief. Very big smiley faces all round from our family and the new buyers families <3

It’s been super complicated throughout- there was a charge on the property from the 1980 when they bought it, which they paid off but hadn’t been removed, so that had to be investigated and removed with approval from the charge holders family, the buyers have changed their buying structure several times, the post office couldn’t register the new people or interview due to lockdowns (refused to do it over Zoom!) and their solicitor has been awful- documents sent in early April, re-requested and queried last week when completion was due yesterday, selling price underquoted several times in error, necessary docs their side not completed which our solicitor drafted and gave to them just to help get it over the line. The solicitor fees have tripled our side from the initial estimate (luckily our firm have given a discount as our home sale and purchase has gone through them, and I think they felt sorry for us with how much effort & time this has taken start-finish!)

Just so relieved! They can retire <3<3:smile:  <3<3

Thanks ladies, we are over the moon for them :)

Unfortunately they buyers business partners mum-in-law passed away on Tuesday evening so the business partner and his wife wont be around much this week; They’ve asked if mum and dad could open the shop and be around to help until the weekend just whilst they sort out arrangements & visit family (M&D said yes in a heartbeat), although I think dad will find it hard not keeping the shop how he keeps it (last night as we were showing them how to close up, he kept moving peoples clothing - he hates it lying around- and kept tidying up/ stacking the shelves. We have to keep telling him not too; he doesn’t need to worry about it anymore but habits of 41/42 years will be hard to break :))

In MSE news, I successfully managed to argue with google enough that we are receiving the auto-renewal for our nest cameras back. We had removed the products from the app (as per their instructions) and advised them we moved; yet they took the £50 camera recording cover funds from us at the start of July. The cameras haven’t even been re-hooked up by our buyer so they haven’t recorded anything and we haven’t used the services. Waiting on that clearing the account.

Annoyingly Ive been fighting with Shell Energy- they’ve messed our accounts right up and have made total errors from start to finish on what should be very straight forward transactions. I lodged a complaint as they’ve also pout a late payment mark on my credit file (first one in something like 10 years for me!). I had a response on Tuesday that the account was on hold whilst they investigated, and they hadn’t put anything on my credit file, then on Tuesday night I start getting chaser emails and texts from a debt collection agency. I’m fuming as my old job was managing debt collection activities and compliance with law, so I understand the process very well and know they have in fact marked my credit file. I left a scathing review on Tuesday night and they responded yesterday that someone will be in contact.....we shall see!

Also, lots of surveys finally cleared on Prolific so £8.95 has been sent to the mortgage equity pot ready for next month and we’ve booked in with Redrow for our floor guy to come to the house and measure up the week before completion too!

Payday from the day jobs was yesterday, as well as from UberEats. So £1600 sent straight to savings for the floor for next month and the Uber money has bee sent (minus petrol of £40) to my delivery driving is a savings pot. After tax Ive now earnt £196.24 in 2 weeks (7 delivery slots) which I’m pretty pleased with as a little extra stash of funds. I will keep it up whilst I’m enjoying it as it gets me out & about without spending cash :D.
