So today my current account switch to TSB come, eyed and I now have 3 savings accounts with. One is a regular saver which £40 is going into each month as a S/O at 5% interest. The other two are just normal savings accounts at 1%. I have renamed one General Savings and transferred my savings from Natwest into it and the other one is called Mortgage O/P so that I can keep track of my little pot of O/P gold.
We also were able to log onto our Santander joint account online today and they've got our morgtgsge balance on there too! It's slightly sad how excited I was to see that on the screen and I know I'll be checking it religiously every month!
Off to Manchester tomorrow morning for a training course for 3 days. Have no idea what I'll do with myself in the evenings so will probably be bothering you poor souls on here :rotfl:0 -
Thinking about it I should probably add on DH rental property as an asset shouldn't I? Eh, it can wait.
Flipping heck. Looking at it on paper we seem pretty well off!!
It always does on paper :mad::mad:
Next thing would be a spending diary, it's really helpful. I had about £800 surplus on mine so very interested as to where that amount goes. Odd things that have come to light are the extra spent on food, diesel and all the odds and ends that mount up.
My focus is to try and minimise those odds as that is where the OP's really disappear from. :TDebt Free Diary - Second Chances! Life in a Tourer........Debt free, building a savings pot0 -
Your income to outgoings and assets to debt ratios look great mrsp1987
I'll follow along as you edge them further in your favour!
I'm looking forward to the day where we have zero debt (mortgage, student loan, or otherwise) an infinite asset to debt ratio would be pretty cool0 -
How much money could I get out of my husband each month without him complaining too much?So today my current account switch to TSB come, eyed and I now have 3 savings accounts with. One is a regular saver which £40 is going into each month as a S/O at 5% interest.

Look carefully at whether cash ISA's will be worth it after April. I know there is a article on MSE about it, I haven't tracked it down yet but I suspect it says something like unless you can put in 10k a year and build up a large pot to protect from future changes (cancelling the 1k tax-free interest from April) then it's not worth it.
Don't forget your pensions in all this, you'll be old before you know it :rotfl:.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Hi gally, thanks for the suggestions
At the moment no, I can't up my S/O to £250 a month. Although there may be £400 spare in the SOA it's not all mine. My husband and I have separate current accounts so the spare money could be his not mine.
Although I will be looki at my finances again and seeing where I can tweak things and also when I set up the S/O I didn't realise that that was the only money I could pay into that account. I though I could top it up throughout the month but I can't, so I may alter the S/O.
I am definitely going to have a look at the value of having an ISA especially as the new personal interest allowance thingy is coming into effect. There was a link in the email sent out today that I want to read when I have a spare moment.
Oh and pensions. I've just changed jobs and am waiting to see whether my contract gets extended (currently runs until end of March) before I join my workplace pension, so that's an additional expenditure to factor in.0 -
Morning, it's an addictive journey
Good luck with your plans.

Hi Mrs p, just spotted your new diary and wanted to wish you well
hope you don't mind but £120 for satellite to is a lot, are you tied in ? If you are with sky they are very good at reducing costs massively if you ring up to "cancel" , we are currently paying £6 pm for the basic package plus family - my best result so far
MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Hi newgirly the sky is a bundle package so that's tv, landline and Internet. We are fixed I think until June so that is something that I would be looking at to change when the time comes especially as we're not very happy with the internet speed we've got with Sky0

Internet speed is a soapbox thing for me :mad::mad:
Our speed is about 250kb :eek::eek:
The cable that services us is about 60 years old and made from copper :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
They will not replace it despite numerous complaints from us all plus we pay more for our service :mad:Debt Free Diary - Second Chances! Life in a Tourer........Debt free, building a savings pot0 -

Wow! That's, like, prehistoric!! :rotfl:
Makes me feel bad that I'm unhappy with 15mb but we were expecting it to be higher and it drops quite a bit now and then.
This is one area where I let the husband have the majority of decision making. I don't fully understand what we require but I do keep a close eye on what he's going to pay for it as, well, I don't trust him :rotfl:0
