Yes, don't think I'll do a five year fix again.
However, I don't like the idea of paying so much for valuation fees etc etc to switch provider. We've had 2 different providers but stuck with the Spanish bank this time round.

It's very nice to see it like that. 3 1/4 years is a long time! 45 months worth of (current) mortgage repayments is over £23,000.
When I look at it like that my mind just boggles!!
  • Currently about 5months in to a five year fixed rate. Paying less than what I was on the last two year fixed rate I had. For me the difference between the payments between the two was not enough to warrant the potential rises that may occur but think that may be the last 5year fix I do.

I miss looking around for the best deals really got into this time round it gets addictive.......

Though so does overpaying the mortgage..... :-)

I need to stay away from price comparison sites - for mortgages at least. I have a lot of curiosity though and I'm such a sad MSEr that I shop around for my new home/car insurance 6 months before the end, even though I know I'm not going to buy it. I just like to be in the know.

I love looking for deals even if it is not due yet. The next one will be BT in the next couple of days.

I'm glad it's not just me. The one I'm not confident with is broadband/landline. I never know what speed/usage limits we need and they are just so confusing you really don't know what you're paying for initially.
  • At the moment it is not too bad as only two of us using it. By time DS &DD are old enough hopefully fibre broadband will be with us..

We've got fibre but the husband's fussy! Think we've still got a few months of putting up with Sky and then we can change.

Finally got round to transferring my last £157 out of my N@twest ISA. Still, not sure what I'm going to do with it. Think I will let it sit in my savings account while I decide whether to spend it or just whack it straight into the O/P pot.
Also tried to close my remaining accounts - ISA and a savings account online with N@twest but it won't let me and I don't know why. It just says 'Your Sort code appears wrong. Your account number appears wrong.' It's not.
I hate when this happens. If they say I can close it online I should darn well be able to close it online. If I can open an account online I should be able to close it online too. Grr, pet hate of mine. Some days I do not wish to interact with humans and just want to get things done via an anonymous machine.

Completely know what you mean, I'm moving to sim only phone contract, however all the log ins don't work that they've given me. Grrrrrr!

Why have automated log in systems and welcome emails if they don't work!

Ooooooh that £157 would be burning a hole in my pocket if it were me ;P
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!
