Ok thanks.
So now considering the 'Could You Pay Less' message and collectives, you said before:
"The rules have been eased a little and we're now allowed to let customers know about collectives through the 'Could You Pay Less' message. This, though, only applies to those collectives that can be signed up to after the auction has taken place and before the offer closes."
I'm not too well up on collectives but is it not quite rare that collectives can be signed up to after the auction has taken place?0 -

It's likely that it's MSE, EHL etc who are conducting the auction at the end of which a price is agreed with the winner(s).
If this is the case the tariff will only be available "after the auction has taken place and before the offer closes."
Then it's 'if' or 'how soon' the energy company informs its existing customers of the collective tariff.0 -
I understood Malc was saying collectives that can be signed up to after the auction and I thought with most collectives you had to be signed up before.
(only got onto a collective recently so not too clued up on them)0 -

At least that's how I see it. I could be wrong.
You may be able to sign up after the auction, but I don't know that for sure.
If you sign up for the MSE Cheap Energy Club you are informed of and eligible for all future MSE collectives.0 -

Morning onzey
Sorry I wasn't clear before. If a collective is open to customers, we'll include it in the 'Could You Pay Less?' message for the time the relevant tariff remains available.
Each organisation has its own way of working in respect of when customers can apply for their schemes. From our point of view, if the tariff is available when the bill/statement, annual summary or renewal is issued, it'll be included in the message.
Hope this explains onzey but let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.

Spot on chas1999. The only thing is, we won't let customers know about collective tariffs through our usual channels - phone, website, mailings, advertising, social media etc. We're not allowed to sell, promote or market them. It's only through the 'Could You Pay Less?' message I spoke about above that we're allowed to tell customers about these tariffs. Collective tariff marketing is usually done by the organisations offering them.

Perhaps I've misunderstood collectives then.
Taking MSE collective as an example, I thought you either had to be a member of the Cheap Energy Club or on the MSE email list to be able to take up a winning tariff during the period after the auction ends and before the offer ends.
I'm now getting the impression that once the tariff becomes available, anyone can take up that tariff if they want to. Is that correct?
Sorry if I'm being a bit dense on this.
I was just imagining people (who may know nothing about collectives) being informed via the 'Could You Pay Less' message of some great new collective tariff that is available. Then they're disappointed to discover it was only available to them, if they'd known beforehand to sign up to whatever organisation was behind the collective. Obviously, if the tariff is available to anyone, that disappointment won't occur.0 -

AIUI it's true for some collective tarriffs, but not for others.
And this:
https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/sites/default/files/docs/2015/10/inclusion_of_collective_switch_tariffs_in_the_ctm_0.pdf
suggests that those collective tariffs that are available should be mentioned in the Cheapest Tariff message.Stompa0 -
Hi Stompa
Link gives me a "Page not found". Have you got a better one? (being a bit lazy I know)

Sorry, MSE seems to have mangled the link. Try following the link here:
