Thanks onzey. End date of our Fixed 1 Year tariff now extended to Monday, 8 February 16.

Launch date still planned for Tuesday, 9 February 16. Not heard anything different but I said that yesterday and looked what happened then.

    Hi All

Quick correction to what I posted on this thread last week (as above). As Helena advised on other threads yesterday, the end date of our Fixed 1 Year version 19 tariff has changed again. It's now midnight tonight, 9 February 16. Version 20 is due to launch tomorrow, 10 February 16. Details will be on our website and the independent comparison sites.

That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Just because there will be no new versions of a collective, I would still like to be made aware of other new tariffs!

Why not just have a system of Price Alerts (preferably to be received well within 10 working days) that tells any customer who is signed up to it of any new tariff that becomes available in case it is of interest?

Is it me or am I missing something here?

It's partly to do with the rules around collective tariffs onzey. They're not one of our 4 core tariffs and we can't treat them as if they were. Recently, though, we have been allowed to let customers know about collectives through the 'could you pay less?' message on their bills. This only applies to collectives that can be signed up to after the auction has taken place and where the tariff is still available. Not great, I know, but it's a start.

As advised in other threads, I've fed back about the shortcomings of our Price Alert service. Can't say what will happen but will keep pressing on this.

That's just too easy to comprehend :D

Hope my reply to onzey above (post 23) helps explain a little beardiedog.

Would it be worth taking V19 now in case V20 is more expensive do you think?

If V20 then turns out to be cheaper, could always cancel the switch and start again or wait for it be complete, then amend once the account is setup.

    Hi Toki

As above, version 19 of our Fixed 1 Year tariff ends at midnight tonight. If you're already one of our customers, you'll be able to switch to this straightaway and then go to version 20, if it's of interest, when it's launched tomorrow. There's no exit fee for changing from one E.ON tariff to another so these switches can be done without picking up a charge. You can do this online if you've registered with our website.

If, though, you're thinking of changing supplier to us and opt for version 19 today, this will be honoured once the switch completes in about two and a half weeks. At this stage, version 20 may no longer be available. Don't know at this time. This switch, too, can be done through our website. Alternatively, as you say, you can always cancel a switch during the 14 day cooling off period and start again.

    Hope this helps Toki.

  • Take it nobody waiting until V20 came out and missed the opportunity to take 19 now ceased? E.On have played the crafty trick they did when V16 was issued to replace the short time V15 was available. They promote heavily their price reductions saying the have the lowest fixed price tariff in the press. Then wait a few weeks and then end that tariff and launch a new one in this case V20. So the electricity single fee tariff (inc. VAT) has gone up 37% (9.979 > 13.398p) from V19 to V20 and the gas tariff has gone up 42% (2.672 < 3.789p) from V19 to V20. Perhaps E.ON should put out a press release highlighting their price increases then! So much for lower wholesale prices helping to keep prices down i.e. tariffs should be relatively static right now.

If you read any of the (many)other EON threads, you will find that this has been spotted by many -and there are many theories to explain its "uncompetitiveness":rotfl:
What further increases the laughter,is that EON have "won" the Great British Collective auction, which for someone like me ( 17000kwh gas usage) actually gives me a saving over the EON v19 tariff:T

it was one of the most ridiculous tariffs released so soon after the v19 by Eon.

the massive price increase over the last was laughable

none of the reps would give the true reason behind the increases over the v19, all you got was the usual spin from those above

what makes it more laughable is elec and gas wholesale prices have BOTH dropped over the last year, so again they shot themselves in the foot with their shocking v20 tariff

I thought prices were supposed to drop.

    My v20 estimate is £1206 compared with v19 £901.

I had thought about delaying the switch from another E.On tariff to v19 in order to get the whole of next winter at the v19 rate. I am so glad I didn't do that on my dad's account as well as mine.

v20 will make people look elsewhere - a shame as otherwise the service at E.On has been very good especially compared to the dreadful ExtraEnergy that I switched from last year.
  • My Price Alert email for V20 has finally arrived. Woohooo! :D

It's shocking that E.ON think this length of delay between a new tariff being released and them notifying customers via the Price Alert email is acceptable.

The only surprising thing is that V20 hasn't already been replaced. :rotfl:

Mine only arrived on Saturday, I guess if the v 20 had been any good and better than the v19, it might well have been withdrawn before I got the alert!
