  • After 3 months of false hope and no hot water and heating. Even though my broken boiler is over 11 years old and told I qualify for a new boiler or repair, now told I don't because the broken boiler is classed as grade b and was energy efficient when was working. These are the very words! Don't understand why they don't say this in the first place, on the application form or just ask for the boiler model number to establish the grade rather than giving me hope for 3 months then throwing in this catch. Looks like I am stuffed!
  • hi does anybody know if there are grands available for disabled people who own there own home for replacement windows.
  • My mum is 77 and her coal fire back boiler has gone after 47 years..
She has a gas oven so she has a supply but only an immersion heater attached to old system. She cannot use heating or get hot water.

She does not want a gas fire and will hopefully turn coal fire into open fire but is having trouble finding a grant under any scheme to fund it..

Only has pension credit - too proud to ask us for help and now has shingles..

Lives in Plymouth on edge of Dartmoor.

Desperate for help and appears Age UK and other companies unwilling to help
  • And I find the word Newbie a bit patronising

Consider yourself well and truly patronised.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.

What's having shingles got to do with it?

  • Similar problem with a firm called EUM Energy from Birmingham.
All details and signatures on i-Pad and no paper copy given. When I asked for hard copy of contract, it showed that I had declared I was claiming benefits which I am not. Got Surveyor back but he didn't seem to know much about it so mailed company who said I qualified under 'Hard to treat' condition. Asked company to confirm this and that I had not said I was on benefits (fraud situation!) but they will not do so and refuse to return my calls. Energy saving Trust very little help - think I know more about it than they do - all they could tell me is that the company is not registered with them for Green Deal - so what??? Be careful.
I have had a survey done today on my property and been advised that I am eligible for an ECO hard to treat grant for cavity wall insulation as my house has narrow compromised cavities. This is with the mark group. I have signed an installation agreement which clearly states the installation will be free and no payment details or deposit has been requested. I am slightly sceptical as I am not in receipt of benefits and another company, the warmerhome group have surveyed my property and said I am not eligible for any grant and quoted me £1100 to install the insulation. Having spoken to the energy saving trust they are unable to confirm the validity of this company, as they are impartial, and have not heard of this grant.

Has anyone had any experience of this please?
  • is there any grants out there that would help me to make improvements to my home?
  • hi hope I am on the right site.just want to point out to everyone not to change energy suppliers until you get your 130 pound elec warmhome grant. I changed to eon from bg and have been told by bgas that thay will not be paying me as I am no longer a customer. eon wont give me cash either because they have closed there offer for this year.so martin your advice not allways the best.
  • I've just had a damp survey which has advised that the rendering be replaced due to the massive damp problem in my home. Bad news indeed - I'm waiting on more quotes but the first couple have come back in the region of £15,000.

Does anyone have any knowledge of grants that may be available? I've researched myself but can't find anything. I suspect that we won't qualify but, its worth a try...

    Our circumstances are:
    - Live in North Wales
    - Married couple, baby under one year
    - I'm full time employed, currently on maternity leave
    - My husband is working as a supply teacher, currently looking for full time employment
    - Not in receipt of any benefits
    - Home mortgaged (scope to borrow against it)

I have heard of a grant for people who live within two miles of the sea to have houses re-rendered?? We do, but I can't find any evidence of it existing anywhere.

    Thanks in advance!!
