Just to say that Warm Front Grants are from £2700-£4000 and are available for boiler repair/replacement [if the current system isn't working properly], cavity wall & loft insulation, draught proofing, central heating [if there isn't heating in 3 living areas or more] or other kinds of heating.

A lot more people are eligible than actually think that they are. You have to own your home or rent privately and be in receipt of particular government benefits, tax credits or health allowances. But just having pension credit or child tax credit and an income under £15460 can qualify you so it's definitely worth trying to claim the grant.

Something worth noting is that it has to be the homeowner or their spouse/partner that currently receives the benefits and it can't be a child as then you wouldn't qualify.

Also, there is the Warm Front 300 voucher which is available to those over the age of 60 and is £300 towards the cost of boiler/heating work. This is only available to those not receiving benefits [but it's definitely worth checking out whether you're eligible for any qualifying benefits because then you could get the full £2700].

There is furthermore the CERT [carbon emissions reduction target] scheme which aims to cut carbon emissions by providing insulation in homes. I think that you can get free cavity wall&loft insulation if you're over 70. If you are under this age then you can get it at a heavily subsidised rate - from 50% to 66% off the price.

It's also always worth giving the Energy Savings Advice centre a ring to see if there are any local schemes in place in your area to cut down on the costs of these things.

    Hope this helps![/QUOTE]

    - ka55a62, you have resurrected / bumped a 5 year old [Warm Front] and now irrelevant 2008 post

  • I have had a survey done today on my property and been advised that I am eligible for an ECO hard to treat grant for cavity wall insulation as my house has narrow compromised cavities. This is with the mark group. I have signed an installation agreement which clearly states the installation will be free and no payment details or deposit has been requested. I am slightly sceptical as I am not in receipt of benefits and another company, the warmerhome group have surveyed my property and said I am not eligible for any grant and quoted me £1100 to install the insulation. Having spoken to the energy saving trust they are unable to confirm the validity of this company, as they are impartial, and have not heard of this grant.

Has anyone had any experience of this please?

There are parts of the country defined as "deprived".
The deprivation might be having no gas supply available in an area with difficulty getting jobs.
The Government is under the lash to meet undertakings about insulating British homes and upping the amount of renewals in the national energy mix.
This is probably why you are being offered this subsidy.

How is the Mark Group proposing to improve your insulation? By injecting your difficult cavities with grey polystyrene beads rather than fibre bits that look like the end of a cotton bud ?

The Mark group is one of the largest firms involved in all this eco stuff. If you were to sign up for some improvement via (say) Tesco, it is most improbably actually being done by The Mark Group.

I got The Mark Group in to quote me for PV (electricity generation) on my roof.
The salesman knew his stuff, but his price was too high and he could not get the job done in the time-frame I wanted..

Ask the salesman to explain how it is that you qualify for the subsidy. Beware of being asked to pay for ancillary costs such as the rental of the scaffolding.(assuming you need it).
    2. Hi I'm after advice if possible, we are a low income family we qualify for tax credits and want to know if there is any grants available to us to improve our home, the reason being is that it is a 2 bedroomed house and we have 2 children a girl aged 9 and a boy aged 5, i would like to be able to give them there own bedroom now due to there age., is there any type of grant to extend our house or convert what little room we have upstairs. I think a loft conversion is not possible due to the low roof.

      Kind Regards

      Ian.
    3. Are there any grants available for roof replacement? I have lots of loft lagging but am convinced I loose a lot of heat through the roof and wondered whether replacing a sound but old slate roof with a more heat retaining alternative is a sensible thing to do

      Thanks

Possibly not, but try asking your city/borough/district council - the worst they can do is say no!

If your loft is lagged then you shouldn't need the roof replacing in order to retain heat
    6. A company called at my house the other day stating that there was a government grant available to pay 50% of the cost of replacement windows but I cant find any details of it online. Has anyone any knowledge of the grant.
