Point is if a comp asks you to share a post to enter a comp and you don't want to then simply don't enter the comp. I have no problem sharing but do get annoyed when people think they're the fb police and comment that they can't ask for shares. Just don't enter

As many regular compers on these boards know - if Facebook determine you have been using the share button excessively then they limit your account (so you can no longer like or share any other pages or posts)
The limit can last for anything from 2 weeks to permanent closure of your account .... similar to this

The way I see it is, if a company can not follow rules laid out by Facebook that say sharing & tagging is not allowed for competitions - then they can not be a trust worthy company .... what other rules will they not follow ? Distance selling regulations ?? Sending out of prizes ?? Family members, friends or false winners winning ??

    Thanks for the info.
I tend not to enter the l& s comps unless it's for something massive like a car or a holiday.
But if I can get away with just liking then I'll enter some more

I've noticed a rise in comps asking you to tag - how long before facebook starts banning users

I think these rules may have changed over time but I would just like clarification as when you search on Facebook there are threads all over the place from various dates.

    1) Can a competition ask you to 'like' their page?
    2) Can a competition ask you to 'like' their post?
    3) Can a competition ask you to 'share' their page?
    4) Can a competition ask you to 'share' their post?
    5) Can a competition ask you to 'tag' friends?

If the answer to any of these is 'no' then can anyone find the most up to date terms on Facebook?

    Thanks!

Strictly speaking the answer to all of them is YES as long as they are just asking/pleading/begging etc.
It is only if they make entry conditional on doing them that FB rules about it come into play.

Even though it's agains the rules and can get you a temporary ban? What a shame for those who get banned because they don't know they are flouting the rules. Thank goodness not everyone in society feels this way.
Why do mice have such small balls?
Because so few of them can dance.

The individual user does not break FB rules by liking/tagging/sharing etc only the promoter may if it was a requirement of entry.

Never been on the receiving end of a ban and never seen anything from FB that said sharing/tagging/liking competition posts etc has resulted in a ban there are just masses of assumptions that it has.

There are plenty of double standards with it as well where people who know what the rules allow still create stink if a winner has not done a required action even if it is against FB rules for the promoter to require it.
