Noddle is wrong. View Experian Score for free monthly with Barclaycard.

My Experian "score" rapidly flew between 400 and 900 during our mortgage application process. This was because they weren't reporting my maiden name and therefore a settled default. Luckily the Halifax were ok with this because the broker had the printout of what I could see and accepted that it was an issue with the CRA and not me trying to dodge declaring something.
They upheld my complaint and refunded my credit expert membership for a couple of months and I immediately cancelled it.
these agencies are only as good as the info they are given. My Noddle is 1/5 and Clearscore is something like 800 - all pointless really because they now show the same info, so there is clearly a huge discrepancy in how they calculate.
I don't pay for any scores now, I do however get the free services just so I can check my accounts are showing properly. The mortgage application and this forum has really taught me a lesson on relying on these made up numbers. They aren't a true indication in my opinion of your creditworthiness, because with the 999 Experian gave me originally I should have been able to get a mortgage simply anywhere - but it wasn't a true reflection because they didn't pull back everything that a lender can see.0 -
"That's why we've partnered with Experian to provide you with access to your Experian Credit Score for free. It will be updated every 60 days and it will give you an idea of what could be affecting your Experian Credit Score. No one else will be able to view your Experian Credit Score, including us. "
That is copied from the Barclaycard Experian credit score sign up page. its only giving you a score every 60 days. Noddle and Clear Score will give you a free randomly generated number every 30 days.
No one else can view your score (as in bold) as it is meaningless to them.
Also Noddle now offer a credit score for free, not just a 1/5 to 5/5, but an actual 3 digit arbitrary number. Never pay for a credit score!Mortgage = [STRIKE]£113,495 (May 2009)[/STRIKE] £67462.74 Jun 20190 -
Such a perfect scoring system that you can have a really high score and not be working.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I have a credit score of 955. I got refuse loan lately.. i Have no debt etc.. Reason for refuse turns out i have too much avalible to me in catlauge and CC. 12.5k in total. So i closed them down (except 1 CC) will reapply in few months. So scores mean nothing0

Iain, I'm impressed that you got the lender to tell you why you were refused!
BTW, this thread has been very amusing. But I think anyone saying a credit score is 'meaningless' is being a bit disingenuous. My personal experience is that my noddle and Clearscore 'scores' both went up after I got some erroneous late payments removed. This accurately reflects that I am more appealing to lenders without late payments than I am with them.
Telling people that their score is meaningless could also lead them into trouble when applying for credit. As I said in another thread where someone moaned about their 2/5 from noddle, this is not meaningless information. Noddle have given 2/5 for a reason, even if that reason turns out to be stupid in the end. I'd view it as a red flag, to check every little thing your FREE credit reports to see what the problem is - particularly any erroneous information.0 -
It's not disingenuous at all. The scores are not used by lenders and there have been numerous threads across several boards on the forum where those with "perfect" 999 scores have been refused credit or offered rubbish rates.
It's what is in the files that's important, not the number. Late payments, defaults, maxed out credit cards, pay day loans, lots of available but unused credit generally speaking don't look great to lenders but the credit files are only one part of the story. Lenders also use other information in determining who to lend to and at what rate but that other information does not include Experian, Equifax, or Call Credit's credit score. I can't believe people still buy into these numbers.0 -

Or do you not think that a surprisingly low score from a credit agency should not be a red flag to check your files very carefully?0 -

There is actually a score on noddle ( think it's out of 1000 )
The 1-5 bar at the top is a rating.
The fact your score has gone up isn't the reason you're seen by lenders as a better bet, it's the fact you've corrected something on file.0 -

I think that low score, mid score or high score you should check that what is reported in all 3 of your credit files is accurate. Especially if you are going to be applying for credit such a mortgage in the not too distant future. I like to check all 3 of mine at least annually to ensure that what has been reported is correct. Therefore I stand by my view that saying credit scores are meaningless is not disingenuous but the truth. It doesn't do any good to lull people into a false sense of security when the number is high.0 -

Thread here where the person scored 999 with Experian and they had a default!

What were the reasons Noddle gave for giving you 1/5?
As others have stated, scores mean nothing - your credit history and how you manage your accounts is what matters.
I currently have a 2/5 on Noddle even though I just got accepted for another 0% stooze card with £8k limit yesterday LOL! I know why my 'score' is low it's because I have a few application searches on there in a short space of time, they don't like it, but I know myself what my credit history is like hence why I ignore it.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards.
