Noddle is wrong. View Experian Score for free monthly with Barclaycard.

Hi All,

Interesting discovery tonight.

I have recently purchased Noddle improve (£30 for the year) as I am due to marry in September, although I am trying to fund myself without the need of a loan, I thought it might be worth keeping tabs on my score just in case I need an emergency loan closer to the time.

Noddle - 1/5. I could not believe it and I was right to be doubtful.

I currently have a Barclaycard and noticed they have teamed up with Experian to view your credit score for free. This is not the report, but the score (use the free version of noddle to check your full report).

Account services - activate Experian credit score. It takes a day or two, but today I recieved an email from Barclaycard to advise it was now available. My credit score is 937 of 999. Not the 1/5 Noddle advise. I'm assuming this is a scam to buy Noddle improve, which I was gullable enough to believe!

Most companies use Experian or Equifax as the most recognised score.

I have advised my fiancee to apply for a Barclaycard just so she can see her credit score for free.

Hope this helps

Best regards
Timboy.

    Dear oh dear.

Your scores are meaningless, there is no universal core, just look at how your rated at Noddle and Experian.

Yes you may be proud of your Experian but it ends there, lenders don't see it.
  • DCFC79 - Noddle is much like your team.

I'm not proud of any score. I know it's meaningless, but it's a 'rough' indication of your eligibility to apply for loans.

Cheers, and best of luck to Donkeys for the season.

Its a very rough indication as no 1 is guaranteed to get a loan despite the history being good.
  • Couldn't agree more. So why pay £14.99 a month to view your score when you can get it for free? If you want an inkling, do it for free. But most definitely do not pay for the privilege.

If all you're getting from Experian is this pointless score and not your credit file/history how do you know Experian is better than Noddle? Is it just because Experian gave you a higher number? In that case apply to Experian for a loan. Oh no wait, Experian don't lend money.

Lenders don't necessarily report to all 3 credit reference agencies so there might be something registered with Call Credit that's not registered with Experian and vice versa. To determine this you'd need to read your credit files and not the meaningless numbers.

You're right about one thing, that £30 is a total waste of money.
  • I think you misread the main point that Experian is used as the one of the leading references and not Noddle.

However, I do totally apologise for advising people to not spend money on Experian just to find out there score when they can get it for free. I totally apologise.

    Welldone!

I didn't mis-read anything. You are basing your opinion of Experian being better than Noddle purely on a credit score when these credit scores are totally meaningless and not used by any lender.

Anyone with half a brain would know that paying any sum of money to view these scores is a waste. Anyone who took the time to read the sticky thread at the top of this board or many of the other threads already on this board would know not to pay to view a credit score and that the scores mean absolutely nothing.

The point is that all credit scores are pretty meaningless and one score is no better than another. Lenders don't use the scores that Experian or Equifax churn out. They look at the detail of your report. I think it's mad to pay £14.99 to see a meaningless number, but I also think getting a credit card to see one is pretty bonkers too.

There are people on here who have high noddle numbers and low scores with other agencies. It's because different agencies use different criteria to calculate their 'score', but also because they have different information available to them. Some credit providers don't report to all of them.

You've posted in this thread, but you could do with reading it:

All 3 CRA files are EQUALLY important and ANY OR ALL of them can cause you difficulties.

If there is something on your Callcredit file (the source for Noddle) that is adverse it could well not appear on your other files (it could be a mistake or it could be a credit account that only reports to Callcredit).

Regardless of the 'score' any CRA gives you - if there is something adverse on the file that a future lender doesn't like then you are in trouble.

Unless you pick very wisely - you could find that whichever creditor you approach in the future does not subscribe to Experian but uses your callcredit file instead.

On this basis, you need to ensure you have all 3 of your full (statutory is sufficient) files and go over them in fine detail.
