is there such a thing as unlimited broadband?
i am a tiscali 100Mbps "unlimited" broadband subscriber and they sent me a nice letter today saying that my usage is unacceptable, and could be affecting their service to other customers, and if i go over 30G (upload and Download) for this month they will terminate my account. (they have even changed their T & C's; not because of little ol' me, surely
)
So check T & C's before you assume you're getting unlimited broadband
assuming makes an !!!!!! out of U & Me

Try Zen. No limits whatsoever. Find them HERE . I pay a bit more for their 2Mbs service, but I don't think anyone could complain at the service they offer. I'd rather pay more and get a decent service rather than paying less and be punished for too many downloads.I'd like a 100M unlimited connection too
That makes two of us!How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

just to clear things up for the pedantic responders,
Mbps stands for Mega Bits (not bytes) per second so its is slower than 1Mb (where b = Bytes):DWhere the !!!! has the Shrug gone!just doesn't cut it... :huh::think::huh: and these don't come close

I'm sorry chompie. It seems you have got things well and truly in a muddle where internet speeds are concerned.
Internet speeds are ALWAYS in bits. Bits are represnted by a small b. Download limits are always quoted in bytes, bytes are represented by a capital B. When people talk about a one or two megabyte internet speed, they are actually wrong. It is one or two megabits that they have.
1Mb= one megabit
1MB= one megabyte
1MB= 8Mb
This is why your original post looked so funny. You are saying that you have a speed of 100 megabits. The fastest home internet service at the moment in the UK is 8 megabits. Tiscali certainly don't offer anywhere near the speeds you quoted. Your true speed should have read 1Mbs one megabit per second.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

my speed Says it's 100 M (with a capital) b (small b as per original post) p (per) s (second) that is how it's displayed everywhere (on windows taskbar and on the Modem's software. so forgive me for thinking that you are incorrect
Maybe that's the speed of the router, But that seems very fast if that's the caseWhere the !!!! has the Shrug gone!just doesn't cut it... :huh::think::huh: and these don't come close

100Mbps would mean you could download at about 10Megabytes per second or 10000KB/s ( I Know it would be more but cant be annoyed working it out). 1Mbps means downloading around 100KB/s. My router shows Im connected at 100MB/s but thats the maximum speed of my network card. Do a speed test and see what you get0

Dump Tiscali and get yourself a proper ISP, Tiscali have done for the internet, what Gerald Ratner did for Jewellery.
Freedom to Surf & ZEN are just two examples of a decent ISP.
F2S have just updated their monthly usage cap on 2mbs from 50gb to 100gb per month for £24.99 . That is three times the 30gb limit that Tiscali are offering.0 -
Its funny that F2S have a cap that is 3 times more than Tiscali's UNLIMITED download limit. Its a shame an ISP can get away with this unlimited claim by throwing fair usage in your face.0
