How about asking on freecycle?
This is the one that I've got www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8611666/Trail/searchtext>PRESSURE+COOKER.htm I know it's not as cheap as the one you were looking at, but I find it much easier to work with than the single long handled ones that I've had in the past.
It's great for, among other things, doing a huge pot of tatties, I just bring them up to full pressure, then turn off and allow to lose the pressure naturally, saves a fortune in leccy.
It also has the advantage of being the biggest pot I have holding the 6litres, so it's great for big pots of stovies, although I can't pressure cook them, and there's enough left to freeze.
P.S I got mine as a gift :-)Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
We're looking at buying a pressure cooker to quickly cook pulses, potatoes etc. Can anyone recommend one that is easy & safe to use?
I have no idea how they work - do they still have those valves that release the steam at the top?0 -
Gosh reading this thread makes me think I ought to get mine out of the shed and start using it again. It is 28 years old soon. (My brother gave it me for my 18th birthday present. I think it is only one of 2 presents from them I still have- the other being pearl earrings my parents bought me). I forget all the useful things you can do with a pressure cooker.
So if you want to go by lasting ability mine is a Tower High Dome. Don't even know if they make them any more!Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. My local Co-op had a 7L Tower pressure cooker half-price @ £19.99 this week. Not sure if it's a nationwide offer? Didn't buy it as I think it was aluminium (didn't say on box but I researched on t'internet) & I want stainless steel.0

I've looked at that one, they have it in stock, although it's a bit more than I wanted to pay, were going to think about it, thanks for the recommendation :TClick here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

Hi peeps :hello:
Anyone with experience of pressure cookers can advise which one of these will be the best value, it's confusing trying to compare them, what's the difference between high dome and standard? some have auto locking system some don't, as I say, I'mwith science :rotfl: :rotfl:

Can't help in recommending modern makes I'm afraid. Ours is a Prestigue Skyline model which was a wedding present 42 years ago and still going strong! I'm so terrified of parts becoming obsolete that I bought an identical one in a car boot sale for £1 some years ago to keep as my spare. Couldn't manage without it for making stock. These items seem to appear at car boot sales fairly regularly for ridiculously low prices. Guess people just chuck them out because nobody bothers making soup stock from bones any more. They just buy the tin or the packet! Why not ask for one on Freecycle? Am sure people have got them tucked away at the back of their cupboard never being used and taking up valuable storage space0

I have a Tefal Delico I bought in mint condition off of ebay for £17. Tried it today and cant believe its taken me this long to buy one!!!
A fantastic Risotto cooked in 20 minutes!!! a third of the time and A THIRD less gas used!!! and it tasted AWESOME!!! I cant recommend them highly enough for saving money and fuel, with the benefit of it tasting great, saving time, retaining the vitamins, and needing less spices/herbs needed! I think they should be recommended more, can we get them on the weekly email somehow???0
