Hi peeps :hello:
Anyone with experience of pressure cookers can advise which one of these will be the best value, it's confusing trying to compare them, what's the difference between high dome and standard? some have auto locking system some don't, as I say, I'mwith science :rotfl: :rotfl:
I can only say that I've had the aluminium ones, and they're no good in the dishwasher, they pit terribly. You may not have a dishwasher now, but you have no idea of what the future holds and the stainless steel ones will last for life. You do have to remove the rubber seals before washing in the dishwasher tough.
You could try ebay, I've seen similar ones to mine for around £15-£20 + postage.
Edit: forgot to say that if you have or ever intend to get an induction hob, you will need a stainless steel pc.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
Hi TVT
We don’t have a dishwasher, and have no intention of getting one, there’s only the 2 of us.
The only stainless steel one on my link above is more than I wanted to pay, as for EBay, I’ve never used it, heard to many horror stories for me to step on that site.
Thanks for your advice tho, much appreciated.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

I am considering getting one of the above - which do you reckon is the better option? I suppose my criteria are versatility, yummy-foodyness and economy.
I think I read somewhere that you can do whole roast chickens in a slow cooker, but a pressure cooker is handy for rehydrating dried beans etc.? I will try a poll thing, but pearls of wisdom are also incredibly welcome! On a mission.0 -

Hi there! We already have a thread on this topic, with a poll, so I'll add your question and you can browse the replies there

I've never used a pressure cooker myself - I have to confess to being terrified of my mum's one as a little girl, it always seemed to be about to explode! But I'm sure they are very useful, as others will no doubt go on to say.
But I am a HUGE fan of my slow cooker - for reasons of economy, convenience and most importantly taste. Yes, I do cook a whole chicken in mine. I also use it for rehydrating beans, chick peas etc. It has the advantage that it can be left on it's own to get on with cooking, meaning I can do the food prep earlier in the day when I have the time and it's not such a mad rush at the end of the day. But if you prefer to cook things quickly a pressure cooker would be better.weaving through the chaos...0 -
My mum was a busy working mum, always rushing in with bags of shopping ,plonking the bags down ,and straight to the pressure cooker . I was brought up on it,and went on to use one myself.I associate it with speed and busy people, cooks potatoes in a about 6 mins.0

Just a suggestion - we could have done with another option in the poll - for both!0

I use both too............my mum gave me her pressure cooker and at first I was terrified of it, but it is sooo useful for cooking pulses (like kidney beans) - really must try it for other things too LOL! The slow cooker is great - I use it an awful lot during the colder months as it is so nice to have something bubbling away when we get home from work. We also cook from scratch.Obedient women are never remembered in History!

Hi everyone. Thinking of asking for a pressure cooker for Christmas but don't know very much about them.
Can any of you recommend them, and if so which one is best?
What are the advantages over the slow cooker (had one of these which is now broken but it always made the house smell strange!), and are they really as scary as they used to be?
Look forward tohearing what you think.
